- Hi again.
RE:"
I'm not talking about Addons. We don't seem to be understanding each other. What I am referring to is this: When I am working in Quicken, and need to go to another Acct...(say from Checking to one of my Credit card accounts) and click on the next acct. instead of going to that acct. the program just shuts down as if I had clicked "Exit" The same thing has happened when I tried to go to Scheduled Transactions or try to edit or add a new scheduled transaction. There does not seem to be a "pattern" to this behaviour, sometimes it happens and sometime not. This just started this morning, while I was working in Quicken. I am using Quicken 2001 Deluxe, which came with my DELL computer. At this point I can not remember or find any information, such as registration number, etc."
That is what I understood in first place. Each time that I answer I try to cover any possibility.
Each time I get an answer from you picking a sentence and not performing instructions given. Now at least I know you have some problem getting Quicken disk and licence. We can also work on that.
If Quicken is crashing , then it must be reinstalled. No matter what action is performed before crashing.
The solution is the same: You Need to Uninstall and Reinstall Quicken.
If you want, before reinstalling you can attempt a system restore.
If re-installing does not work, reinstall using a different account.
If after reinstalling, and restoring backup the problem persists, then the data is bad. Usually the software is responsible for this kind of behaviour, not the data.
Troubleshooting is always a sequential process, and if you cannot follow instructions we won't be able to proceed.
When the software was delivered with your Dell computer, it can be restored using the Dell Solution Center, listed on the Start menu.
If you cannot use the Dell Solution Center, then contact Dell support, if you are a licence owner they may enable a download.
Quicken is not a standard Dell application, and he may have been provided with an additional disk. In that case you won't be able to reinstall from Dell Solution Center.
You can get for free Quicken online (similar but not the same thing) or an updated 2010 Q Deluxe version for about $59.
Try first a system restore to a date before having this problem, do not restore back before one month ago. Software installed after restore date may not work afterward.
I am going offline now, then the problem may be passed to a different expert in a couple of hours in case I am not able to answer.
Best regards.
Ginko.
