How to change cartridges on an Epson Color 760???

Hi, I have just connected a Color760 to a PC running MS XP. The printer hasn't been used for a couple of months and I'd like to replace the cartridges but...I hold the cartridge key down for 3 seconds (as suggested on the sticker under the lid) only for the cartridges to emerge briefly and then return "home" without going to the far end of the transport and allowing me to remove them. Can anyone suggest a way to make them co-operate please?? All suggestions gratefully received! Best wishes and Happy New Year to all.

Thanks for the reponse ohms. Unfortunately I don't have an option for "Ink Replacement Utility"

  • Anonymous Jan 07, 2008

Turn on the printer and hold down the paper button until the cartridges move to the left position where you can change them.
I have done this and cannot get any ink to print. Any advice as to how to proceed?

Not connect printer port

all 1 zillion printers from 1981 to Now , wow, =!
you pC hardware supports old parallel and USB 2 printers.
The OS? or Drivers , is the hard question.
state PC you are running. ok, 4600 DT (very old with AGP video! P4)
state OS you are running.? (guess XP)
and if connected to the internet.? (no? then its hopeless)
my Windows 8 , supports, nearly all 1 zillion printers. instantly.

but let me guess, it's still running XP on that old Pent,4 system.
you do know the MS drops XP support soon, right?
what does that mean?, that means they will not support all printers, soon. nor all the future security issues, way bad....

So here is the easy answer, for all PC'S, ever.
1: if your PC plugs in to that odd printer, bingo it's hardware compatible, most are USB most parallel printers long sense died.
I have a 1995 epson parallel that works , its a show piece, relic.
USB printer, your PC is USB 2 certified.

2: next, is does the OS support, it, well plug it in, and see.
OS means, operating system.
if you have internet, the OS tries to load a driver to match.
this ACT, is called plug and play(pray) PNP.
if it don't play?
3 :you then go to the printer makers web site.
it be smart to do this, first, if buying relic printers on fleabay, yes.
see if your printer is supported under XP.?
most are not. today. (newer printers my have stopped supporting XP. it's no revelation that. XP is dead. and not secure !)

4: the HCL. is the hardware compat. list.
go to MS, (soon, or its no more..) and find the XP HCL, if not already deleted. and look up your printer.
if missing MS, don't support it.
but that don't mean the maker does not, step3.
ive done 1000s in linux and all MS OS. since day one 1981.(IBM)
before that, DEC !

if thinking printe/r scanner/fax, that is near impossible on XP.
but the maker will tell you that fact. do look.
BTW , i recommend a used, computer
with at least a dual core. then get 4gb memory and load W8
and iNtel box or AMD, (im an AMD man)
or buy a emachine at walf-a-r-t.with w8 loaded.

XP is dead. the sword is thrust thru it's wretched heart.
RIP XP. 21 gun salute.

Hi

You can check the small contacts on the carts, that they are clean and contacting the sensors on the carriage in the printer when you snap them in. Also, double-check your printer cable, that it hasn't jiggled loose where it connects to the printer or the other end, on the computer.Make sure that you have removed the tap from the head of ink cartridge. Then take out the cartridges and after some time ,snap it back. Then align the cartridge and then run the cleaning cycle. You can also Try to disconnect the power and computer for 10 minutes, then reconnect just the power and turn on.

Also try to upgrade the latest driver of this printer and see if it works

Can the ink dry up. installed printer ink a couple of months ago but will not print now. printer prints blank pages.

hi!

yes ink can dry up.. big chance your ink have dried up, since you've installed them couple of months ago.. there's a possibility that the ink may have not dried up but the print head may clogged.. you can try running some maintenance like clean cartridge or print head test using Dell All inOne Solution center..
Hope this helps..

Printer not printing

Hi,

When this error appears in your printer check if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel is with the cartridge. To fix this issue use the Kleenex (perfume ) added with few drops of water to dampen it and clean off those contact on the holder. You should let the unit sit 24 hours for best results. Before printing anything run aligned the cartridges a couple times then run clean cartridges a couple of times. Print the test page to look for the condition.

Thank you !!

Hi,
Remove it,replace it couple of times.

Run a nozzle and printhead cleaner check,
from your printer's properties, maintainance.

align too, just to be sure your setup correctly.

Check your printer settings for quality of the print.

Ink has run out message

Ink not made for your printer has risks. 20 years as Canon rep taught me this. Yields: are affected by resolution, type of paper, condition of print head, condition of ink jets, all ink jets and lasers are mfg'd under lisence to Canon. You have the best! Anytime supplies are cheaper, something is left out. used cartridges usualy leak air and drip ink ck for stains under print head. cartridge has used blotter also drips. Cheaper cartridges contain less ink, no free lunch. Fill it yourself 1 or 2 times and do it right. Put the printer in your shower for twenty minutes if you see excess leaked ink. Allow to air dry for a few days then install new cartridges. Run all the Nozzle checks and print head utilities. Touch nothing else on the inside. This will fix it or [email protected]#%k it up for good

Hi, the print heads are clogged up usually caused by leaving a ink cartridge in the printer when not using it, ie over time, but epson have this problem alot.
you could try this http://www.supermediastore.com/cleaning-cartridge.html
ie if head cleaning dont work,,

this should fix it, otherwise its $48 + vat was the cheapest i found for new print heads or £75 for epson to fix it.
i would replace printer ie if cartridge dont work,,

Happy New Year

Empty ms word printout

Hi, You can try: 1. go to Start, Printer and Faxes, right click on your 3745, click on Properties, Printing Preference; 2. Check to see if you have any Advanced tab or button; 3. Check if you can set the printer to text only; 4. Check if you can set the printer to use black ink only. 5. In MS Word, verify through the use of Print Preview that your document is as you would want to be printed; 6. In some instances you may have to set manually text color in MS Word. While your document is open, click Ctrl + A to select all, then choose font color to "Black". Alternately, in your MS Word, you can click on "Format", "Font", "Font Color" set to "Black" rather than "Automatic" and set this as the "Default" setting. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
