First check speaker connections for a short.Something usually is touching either at the reciever or amp.The receiver goes in protect mode when there is a short. If that does not work the receiver may be trying to push more watts than capable

How to reset denon s 301receiver?

  1. How to Reset Denon Receivers
    • 1 Save the information currently stored in your Denon receiver, such as device commands and multi-zone controls. Some Denon receivers can control multiple rooms and each room needs to be setup properly to provide the correct controls. If the receiver was installed professionally it may be best to contact the installer before resetting the device.
    • 2 Press the "Power" button or the "On/ Standby" button to shut off the receiver. On some receivers it is best to press the button on the device instead of the remote as the remote will normally put the receiver in standby mode. Ensure the display and all other lights on the device are off. Do not unplug the Denon receiver as it will not reset.
    • 3 Press the "Power" button and at the same time press two buttons on the front panel, which are determined by the model Denon you own. Most receivers identify the two buttons inside the user's manual, while some older Denon receivers require you contact Denon for the right button combination. For example, some Denon models require the "Standard" and "DSP Simulation" buttons to be pressed simultaneously.
    • 4 The display will start flashing at about one second intervals. Release the two buttons. Turn on the receiver by pressing the "Power" or the "On/ Standby" button to verify the previous settings and saved radio stations have been erased. If the interface does not flash, the reset was not complete and needs to be re-done. Re-enter the previous settings to ensure there are no further issues with the receiver.

My denon receiver keeps shutting off around -15 and it just started doing it. I reset it to factory settings and all the speakers are working fine. It isn't hot, it will do it as soon as I turn it on. I am...

try this and see if it work. keep in mind that the audio output is very sensitive unit and it has a built in reset switch which keeping the unit from shorting out. the systems go into reset because of safety precaution overloading the systems. The most important is to make sure you have the correct post connect from the receiver to the speakers, such as Positive to Positive and Negative to Negative. If the post is not hooked into the correct post it will sense the overload and the unit go into reset mode or protection mode. Trace the correct wire to the right post and see if that will rectify the issue.

The receiver will not stay on. Has a flashing

Need more info here but it sounds like you have a short one one of your speaker wires that is sending the receiver into protect mode. The other option is that volume is too loud on zone one or two especially of you have multiple speakers hooked up to zone 2 and the ohm loads are becoming unstable.

Denon avr-1706 receiver just shuts off

This sounds like the amps protector circuit has been activated due to thermal overload. switch it off for an hour or more to let it cool down, make sure your spkrs are connected properly, don't parallel. Try using a fan on the unit to get that heat away. Get a techie friend to give the insides a once over, and clear away any dust that has built up.

hope this is of some help,
Cheers Kimbo.

Power Button Flashing Red

Try unplugging the entire unit and letting it sit for 5 minutes. See if this helps. If not, you need to do a complete reboot, which will cause you to lose your settings, but will probably solve your problem. To do a complete reboot, you will need to hold down two of the front bottons on the front panel. I'm not sure which, so either consult your manual or see other posts here which describe the reboot process for Denons. Hope this helps.
