HELP MY LIGHT DOES NOT WORK AND MY WIFE HAS CUT ME OFF UNTIL IT DOES

Whirlpool side by side refrigerator light will not work. the lights in the freezer side work. ensured new light bulb works, took out door switch and it seems good, have power to switch what is left?

    whirlpool gs6shexnl00 side by side refrigerator with the refrigerator light not working. When the door is opened and the switch released a humming/clicking sound comes from underneath.

The problem is in the control board. A diode is shorting the relay, also has burned off trace. Looking for diode to replace as I write this.

If its a 2 wire switch if you jump the 2 terminals together on the switcht plug the light should come on if it does replace the switch

Side by side Sub Zero light switch works intermittently.
I had the same problem with my sub-zero and finally resolved it (much to my wife's delight) by just replacing it. R&R was a lot simpler than having to work on it every time my wife had a problem.

My wife opened the refrig. door and saw a blue flash now all the lights in the refrig side are out and the temp gage indicator lights are out as well.
Blue flash sounds like an electrical short (spark) that blew a fuse or tripped a breaker.
Is the machine running? You need to unplug and check the switch that turns the light on and the lamp socket itself for frayed or broken wires befoe restting breaker or replacing fuse. Once your electrical problem is resolved you can reapply power

I have a whirlpool side by side fridge. This
On some models you have a mother board located on the back outer section of the refrigerator that can be faulty. There is a tech sheet located behind the kick plate or under the front of the ref bottom to refer to. If someone olays with the digital controls you may have to reprogram the mother board, which is explained in the tech sheet.

I would start with relay and overload that plugs into side of compressor. Very common problem on Whirlpool fridges. Simple to fix though.

Light and temperature indicator on refregirator do no operate. Wife heard a pop when she opened refrig. door.
If the refrig light AND the temp adjustment knob lights , went out , you need to replace the electronic board . Pt # W10135090 . This part is located behind the refrig , at the bottom left , with 2 screws , inside a white box . The board runs about $ 80.00 , and is easily replaceable .

your  problem on this is the main control in the compressor compartment. unplug your refrig then remove this control unplug all connectors and reconnect. this will probably get you working temporarily In almost every case I've seen we ended up replacing the control board. thx peyton
