Denon UD M31 CD not playing

Denon CD Receiver 31 Can't get the CD to play - it loads up and spins but that's it. It just happened no reason as to why. Any suggestions would be great. I've heard there is a way of resetting the memory on these units - is that true? Would love to get it up and running again.

Re: Denon UD M31 CD not playing

It is possible that the laser has gone, the part you require is:

Sanyo SF-P101N CD Mechanism - 16 pins (there are 15 pin versions available which have the same product number, the two versions are incompatible)

i have found the part on Ebay (UK) for less than £5, the shop that sells it also suggest replacing the flexible strip that connects that mechanism to the circuit board, the strip costs £2 and replacing it would seem to be a very sensible idea seeing as you have to completely strip the unit to replace the mechanism.

My UD-M31 is in bits on my work bench at present, awaiting the arrival of a new mechanism, i'll post again if replacing it solves the problem.

DENON UD-M30 CD Player is displaying the word PROTECT and will not function. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Many thanks.

Usually when a receiver goes into protect mode, there are several reasons, One is there is a bad speaker connected to the unit, this will cause the unit to to into protect mode, try disconnecting all speaker from the unit and turning it on if it does not go into protect then one of the speakers are bad. Another reason is the power output Amplifier IC is shorted inside the unit. Another reasons could be that speaker wires are touching each other and causing a short. Disconnect all unit connecting to the unit and try turning on, if it stays on and no protect then connect them including the speakers one at time until you determine which is causing the error. If it goes into protect with nothing but the unit on then the Output IC is bad and the unit needs servicing.

No Aux on a UD-M30

We had the same problem, found that if you plug your device into "line 2 in" on the back and select tape it worked for our ipod. We had to turn the volume right up on the ipod to hear it though

Denon UD-M3 CD Receiver CD playing

Sounds like your spindle motor is shot. What happens is, the bushings in the motor that turns the CD disk are worn. So tilting the unit will change the loading of the motor shaft to an " un-worn" spot on the bushings and the CD plays properly. The spindle motors are chepa for the most part, but the labour might bite you a little because it is a fairly involved job. If the unit is still under warranty....great...if it is just off warranty, you may get some good will service from of luck...Rob

The tact switch behind the panel is being pushed in by a defective front panel button, the small switch is bad behind the button, or the volume control IC is bad. Good Luck
