Denon UD M31 CD not playing

Denon CD Receiver 31 Can't get the CD to play - it loads up and spins but that's it. It just happened no reason as to why. Any suggestions would be great. I've heard there is a way of resetting the memory on these units - is that true? Would love to get it up and running again.

It is possible that the laser has gone, the part you require is:

Sanyo SF-P101N CD Mechanism - 16 pins (there are 15 pin versions available which have the same product number, the two versions are incompatible)

i have found the part on Ebay (UK) for less than £5, the shop that sells it also suggest replacing the flexible strip that connects that mechanism to the circuit board, the strip costs £2 and replacing it would seem to be a very sensible idea seeing as you have to completely strip the unit to replace the mechanism.

My UD-M31 is in bits on my work bench at present, awaiting the arrival of a new mechanism, i'll post again if replacing it solves the problem.

the new laser arrived today, i changed it along with the flexible strip and hey presto, it works.

the job took about an hour in total and the only tools you'll require
are a soldering iron (there is an anti-static lump of solder on the
mechanism that you need to remove before you install it) and a
    posi-drive screw driver.

Drop me a mail to Darkshelves@hotmail.com and i'll have a bash at
explaining how to get the unit apart and, more importantly, back
    together again

Have the same problem and fix in the same way, the first SNYO sf-101IN does not work, have to change again with another set, this time it works and things seem fin, only have to bear in mind not to play CD-R disc, this format can bring this machine dead again in a relatively short time!!

Cd stuck in Denon CD auto changer receiver. Displays ERR. How can I get out?

As there may be other factors at play that require a more detailed explanation, I would suggest that you seek a resolution through a discussion with a qualified technician. To do this, refer to your operating manual, which should provide a telephone number for technical contact assistance. You can also go up to the manufacturer's website and make contact for advice. www.denon.com/

Is there a small hole on the front of the load tray? If there is use a straightened out paperclip to push into the hole to remove the stuck cd. That might help you out.

Denon D-M31. It's had a problem for a while where after a minute or so the volume control on the front works very intermittently. The remote control volume contro; still works fine though. I have heard...

Hi. It's called a rotary encoder.

You might get a replacement from Denon if you have soldering skills or can find a part number in the service manual. I'm unable to access the site just now:

Denon UD-M3 CD Receiver CD playing

Sounds like your spindle motor is shot. What happens is, the bushings in the motor that turns the CD disk are worn. So tilting the unit will change the loading of the motor shaft to an " un-worn" spot on the bushings and the CD plays properly. The spindle motors are chepa for the most part, but the labour might bite you a little because it is a fairly involved job. If the unit is still under warranty....great...if it is just off warranty, you may get some good will service from Denon......best of luck...Rob
