SLV-D300P DVD Player VDR. The door on the DVD side will not shut after CD is inserted. Even empty it will not shut either through the remote or using buttons on the machine itself.

The Sony SLV-D300P is a DVD PLAYER and VCR. It does not record DVDs. You would have to buy a combo unit with a DVD recorder, not just a DVD player.

check some other type of discs and DO NOT insert dvd-r because some old players cant ruun some formatted discs

Tries it with other audio CD,if it have the same problems.Than the DVD player have a dirty laser eye scaner reader.Tries websites like Ebay.com,Amazon.com to buy a DVD player laser eye cleaner kit disc.

eBay.com offers many Remote Controls. Input the brand and model of your Sony Combo and your search will automatically produce separate Remote Controls along with separate listings for the Combo devices. These new or used Remotes typically range in price from $10-$20.

I have the same problem -- tried power reset, tried holding stop button for 5 second reset, nothing works. If I push the power button or the eject button, the blue light flashes momentarily then goes out.

That particular unit is very sensitive to scratched or dirty disks. Remove the disk and make sure there are no finger prints, peanut butter & jelly, or popcorn butter stains on the back side. If there is, gently wash the disk under warm water with a DROP of mild dish detergent, being careful not to scratch the surface. Rinse the disk well and dry with a soft, lint free cloth (like an old cotton t-shirt) again being careful to avoid scratching the disk. Replace the disk and play.

If the disk is scratched, there is little hope of fixing the scratch so the unit can read it.....

all dvd recorders are very very sensitive when comes to which disc is fed to them......you say sony is the same as memorex is the speed the same 4x-16x, may i also suggest maxell, dynex and vertabram

my sony slvd300p dvd vcr combo is not responding to my remote control. The remote is a "RM-u66".
Got any ideas?

no reset, the infred led inside the unit are bad and need to be replaced common problem, they are located on the ends of the tape mech.
