Re: xbox360 connection

Yes, you are able to connect your 360 using a hardwired connection. In fact, it is even faster that way!

Your BT Home Hub has two ethernet jacks on it, for use with whatever devices you wish to connect to the internet (in this case, your 360). Simply plug your 360's ethernet cable into the jack, and voila! You can now access Live. However, if you wish to host games over live, you may need to open up certain ports for Live to use.

The ports are listed at:

A manual for using and setting up your BT Home Hub is at:
Near the bottom of the page is a link for the PDF version of the manual.

How to get an internet connection for xbox live

Hello award ward,

To get a wireless internet connection for Xbox live, you will need a high-speed Internet connection such as cable or DSL and a router, gateway, or wireless access point (WAP) that is compatible
with Xbox live. If your XBOX360 console is first generation, you will also need a Xbox 360 wireless networking adapter. If you are using a wired connection, you will need a network cable. Plug the network cable into your router and the other end into your Xbox 360. On your Xbox 360 console, navigate to "MY XBOX" and then select "system settings" Next select "Network settings" and then select "Test Xbox Live connection" Select YES when the prompt appears asking you to update your software. After you become connected, there are two choices: Free membership of Gold membership. Once you are connected, navigate back to "My XBOX" and select your avatar and then select "Join Xbox Live" If you need any more help feel free to contact me. Thank you for using Fixya

We cannot connect wirelassly

...I'm not sure on what your actual question is here but make sure you have a wireless network to connect to (you can buy wireless router and an internet service via any internet service provider- I use BT)

If that's not your problem (which i don't know what is) - then make sure your typing security WPA key in properly. (WPA key should be located on the back of your router/hub if that wireless hub got delivered by your current internet service provider). If your still having trouble contact your current home network manager (dad/mum/guardian/employer/lanlord) who has software to control the WPA & what it is).

Your xbox should have a network adapter already installed (device inside that allows connection wirelessly to a networks wireless router/hub). So that shoulden't be the problem (unless your xbox is broken)

How do i find my pc wpa key so i can connect xbox360 wireless

The WPA key for a wireless home network is pretty easy to find out.

1). Locate your home wireless router (box shaped, wires coming out of it, usually a little entenna)

2). turn it round and locate a small label with lots of writing on there (most you won't understand if your not familiar with networking)

3). on the label there should be something called 'WPA KEY' or 'NETWORK KEY' for an example key would be: 'f457dbaf4' or something along those lines (unless set personally by network admin).

4). write this code down, take it too your xbox and re-type the code.

5). if the code is invalid, make sure it's the right code your reading on the hub/router & check to see your trying to connect to YOUR own network & not some random neighbours.

hope this helps

Xbox connected through network cable to pc ! what do i need to perform on pc through my wireless usb port connected to go online

If you are running Windows Vista on your PC here is how you can route your XboX360 through your PC/Laptop in order to get on Xbox Live Wirelessly:

1. Set up a Static IP address in Vista. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network & Sharing Center -> Manage Network Connections

2. Right-click on Local Area Connection and go to Properties

3. Double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4)

4. Set the option to "Use the following IP address"

IP Address:
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway: blank

5. Just to be safe, also set the options to "Use the following DNS Server Address"

(You may use your ISPs DNS entries also, these are just the OpenDNS ones that should work for everyone)

6. Under the "advanced" tab, you need to check "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection."

7. Right-click on your wireless connection, go to properties, click the "advanced" tab and check the same box to allow other users to share the connection.

8. On your Xbox360 go to the network configuration menu and enter the following settings:

IP address:
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway:

Now you should be able to get on the internet with your Xbox as it will be using your PC/Laptop's wireless connection.

MTU fail

ok well I found a fix but it may not be simple. anyway, i got my xbox360 to work off of my girlfriends laptop by feeding internet to the laptop from the cable modem via usb and then from the laptop to the xbox360 via ethernet. just right click usb connection in network connections and click sharing tab, then activate sharing and tell it to share connection with lan connection... you can also share through wireless if your xbox is wireless. I tried running all this through a dsl wireless router and a basic hub and both of them gave ip address and mtu errors... good luck

Do i really need Xbox live???

Hey supcom296,

If you are looking to connect two XBox consoles together for offline play, the method can vary depending on the type of XBox you own.

For the original XBox, there should be two supported methods. The first allows you to directly connect two XBox consoles together using a "system link" or Cat 5 Ethernet crossover cable, while the second is to connect up to four XBox consoles using standard networking cables and an Ethernet hub.

With the XBox 360, there should be three methods available. The first is to directly connect the two consoles using a traditional Ethernet cable (RJ45), the second allows up to 16 different XBox 360's to connect by using standard networking cables and an Ethernet hub, while the third uses either a wireless router or the XBox's built-in Ad-Hoc networking tools to make a connection.

If you are unsure how to set up the consoles using any of these methods, you should be able to find step-by-step instructions in the owner's manual for your XBox, or by simply visiting the support section of Microsoft's homepage.

Hope this helps you out.

Go Ahead. Use Us.

Ive got a 40gb ps3 and a bt home hub wireless router how do i connect ps3 to computer ps ps3 is upstairs and pc downstairs

look on the back of your home hub. there should be a Wireless Key in a Grey box. (BT Home Hub wireless settings)

note the wireless key.

go to your ps3. and turn it on log on ect. go to settings and down to network settings (right at bottom).

(Im not sure of the next section because im currently on a network but it should be an option to find network).

anyway you search for networks. should find your home hub.

keep going right untill you have to enter any settings. and write your WEP Key (Not WKA). (wireless key from back of router).
