With the chain on the saw and the saw not running, pull the chain around the bar, does the chain mesh with the drive gear correctly? If not, you got the wrong chain or the gear is worn out.

New saw.2025,bought new and they put chain on backwards and will not cut.runs great but having problem loosening pinwheel chain adjustment.flip up lever but cannot loosen it.too tight

If you can't even loosen it to get the chain off and put it back on properly take it back to the people who put the chain on backwards. That is absolutely ridiculous that a dealer puts a chain on backwards...they probably just tightened it too much...use a bigger screwdriver as to not strip the screw. It should never be that tight...they may even have the wrong size chain on it, check the chain package too , make sure its the right one for your bar......Take it back, If they can't loosen it easier and in a reasonable amount of time or you see them forcing it, demand a new saw. Seriously.

How do you fit a chain on a Black and Decker chain saw Model DN 412?

Though I am not familiar with this model, I suggest this: Loosen the two nuts that hold the bar to the body of the saw, adjust the chain tension screw to loosen as much as possible, then take the nuts and bar off. When you put the new chain on be sure to have the teeth of the chain in the right direction, the chain rotates from top to bottom, out on top and in on bottom. If you think you have it backwards just flip it over as most bars are reversible and that would correct the chain direction. Rotating the bar with each chain change will give you more even wear of the bar too. It is somewhat tricky getting the chain on the drive sprocket sometimes but be patient and WEAR LEATHER GLOVES. Put chain on bar first, then chain on sprocket, then bar and chain over studs being sure chain is seated properly in sprocket and bar. Finger tighten nuts, then chain tensioner, then tighten nuts. Be sure to oil chain after assembly and before use.

How to change chain on homelite chainsaw

Hi there,
First wear a pair of gloves.Locate the two nuts on the the bar side of the saw they will be on the motor at the base of the bar. There should be to nuts visable.Remove them and take off the plate. There will be an adjusting screw that you need two back off far enough to push the bar back and loosen the chain enough so that the bar and chain can can be lifted at the same time.I usely have the saw on its side with the bar suported on som 2x4s nailed togeather and layiing the same way as thy bar.Note that the teath on bar are comming toward you.Take the chain out of the grouve and clean the bar grouve with air, solvent and brush or screwdriverand inspect the bar.Look for blue spots, worn spots, sharp edges. If the is blue near the chain grouve I would get a new Orgen bar with a sprocket nose if you do a lot of cutting. If the the chain hasn't been slipping then just run the saw till it wears out.If you have to change it pull the spark plug pull the pistin until it startes coming up and at the 3/4 mark stop and add some starter rope through the spark plug hole till it stops going in and pull the starter rope till it stops.Smack the sprocket with a blunt object and it should loosen up.Sometimes it's better for a shop to do this. Just reverse this to put this back to geather but check your oiler and oil the grouve before you put your chain on.

How do i change the blade in my bosch 700 pae saw

Do you mean pole saw? DISCONNECT PLUG If so you change it like you would a chain saw, loosen the bolt(s) at the base of the bar on the engine and put a screwdriver in the slotted area near where you loosened the two bolts and the chain will loosen and come off. To put new chain on, reverse but leave 1/8 - 1/4 inch play in chain. Pull on chain at the middle of the bar to set chain tension. Good Luck...

If it's a cut off saw there should be a motor lock on your motor, UNPLUG UNIT. Depress the motor lock lightly and rotate cut off wheel by hand until motor lock falls into place hold motor lock and loosen bolt in the center of the wheel you are trying to remove. Reverse instructions to mount new wheel. Good Luck...

Chainm has popped . How do I put back on?

On the right side of the saw, where the chain disappears into the housing, there should be one or two nuts. These are what hold the Bar and Chain retainer plate on. Remove these two nuts, and the plate, the Bar, and the Chain will come off.

Now, just to put the chain Back on to the Bar, all you have to do is to LOOSEN these two nuts, and either right between them, or NEAR them is a FLAT-HEADED SCREW. Turn this screw to either LOOSEN, (retract) the Bar, or EXTEND the Bar. So, retact the bar, which loosens the chain, put the chain back on the bar, slowly extend the bar, by turning the screw, so that the chain gets tighter, then tighten back up the two nuts.

The chain should have a small amount of slack in it when you are finished. If you tighten it up too much, then it won't freely move, and will prematurely wear out your bar.

Good Luck.

Do not hive and need to know how to put new blades in. thank you ray

Almost all chain saw blade replacement is the same.

You remove the cover over the driving sprocket area.

You loosen two clamping bar nuts.

You loosen a small screw that helps tension the chain... this is usually parallel and close to the bar on the engine side of the bar.

You remove the old chain noting the direction of the teeth.

You put new chain on the same direction.

You partially tighten the bar nuts so they will allow bar to slide a bit.

You then tighten the tensioning screw until you can lift the chain halfway up the bar, away from the bar and have the guide that runs in the bar JUST come out of the bar at that point.

Fully tighten the bar nuts.

Replace the cover plate.

Put a little bar oil along the chain. Done!

Tighten chain?

Depending on the model, you adjust the chain tension using the screw that is located either between or below the two nuts that hold the sprocket/bar/chain cover. Loosen the nuts and turn the screw clockwise to tighten, counter-clockwise to loosen. Once you have the tension set, lift up on the bar from underneath and tighten the two nuts. Proper tension should show about half of the chain drive, and should only be done when cold. After 4 to 5 minutes of run time, stop the saw and check the tension again. A little heat in the bar/chain will cause it to loosen up. It will need re-adjusting.

Cannot get new chain on do i have to remove

Put it over the sprocket first, then work your way right putting it into the bar grove as you go, the nose last. Grasp and pull the bar right the chain should rise into grove, you may need to help. Loosen the chain tensioner some put the clutch cover on and tighten the bar nuts finger tight.
Chain adjustment
  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the nuts that are clamping the guide bar in place (or whatever your saw uses to hold the side plate and bar on with). We don't need these really loose - just finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. Now, while holding the nose up, adjust the tension so that the chain just touches the underside of the bar.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the side plate nuts / bolts / quick-release system.
