Hi,
My washing machine does not drain or spin at the end of the cycle. It just makes a buzzing noise, then stops. My husband thinks that since the wash cycle works, everything mechanically with the motor and tranny sounds good. This leads him to believe it's a relay or timer, which might be located on the back panel of the machine. Does this sound correct? What is your opinion, as he is not a washing machine expert. =)

I hope I am replying correctly by doing this...please advise.
Thanks!
Have the same issue. I think there might be a sock or something that is keeping the machine from draining. How do you get to the drain hose to check this out?
I have a Kenmore 42722 Top Load Washer which seems to have a very similar issue...
It goes through all the cycles fine, but when it starts the agitate cycle, it makes a humming/buzzing sound. It doesn't seem to slow/stop the machine, but it just is odd sound it never made before. It has also started leaving marks that look like something dripping out from inside the machine. They are dark, but they clean up too easy to be oil from the machine... it's almost like some kind of other residue. The spots and the funny sound seem to be related... the louder the funny noise, the more stuff is on the floor under the machine.
Any ideas? Neither of us are very mechanically inclined...
more than likely something is jamming your pump now your coming up on the post with another user as having the same problem but its not the same kind of machine im getting ready to answer the first user who has a front loader and it may pop up to you so disregard that. Reply to this message and ill tell you how to check yours

yep ya did hello. the other washer was a front loader yours is a top loader on your model the drain pump is mounted to the front of the drive motor something is in the pump jamming it hence the humming you are hearing if its full of water you can take a wet dry vac and pull the water out through the drain hose if not you will need a pair of radiator hose clamps from the auto parts store at the control panel either on the back or front depending on age are two screws back them out till you can pull the control panel slightly froward then open it its on hinges .on the body of the washer at the back you will see two gold clips take a screw driver and pop them out paying close Attn how they go back the position of them etc disconnect amy wires from the control panel to the washer outer cover tilt the washer cover to 45 degrees and walk back with it put it back on same way the front of the washer cover goes under the frame and the side of the cover go on top then it tilts back after the cover is removed you will se a White pump with two hoses coming to it take the clamp you bought and clamp the hose coming down from the tub to the pump put some towels down depress the spring clip pull the hose from the pump and see if you cam remove the foreign object you may have to remove the pump completely or replace it to remove just pop the two flat retain straps and pull it of the motor reassemble it and your done good luck

I have a Hotpoint WF321P machine and it's started to make a terrible rattling/banging noise when spinning. Otherwise works fine. Can anyone suggest the problem or spare part I can buy to fix it?
