I had an encrypted wireless network - I changed it to open access by reinstalling to enable use by multiple laptops - I now want to revert to an encrypted system but Linksys won't accept my password to make the change - any ideas ?
I'm guessing you left it at the default IP address of 192.168.1.1 and you go there using Internet Explorer and are asked for username and password. Is that right? The default username is blank and default password is "admin" with no quotes. If the defaults were changed then that won't do you any good. Your only recourse then would be to hit the reset button on the back of the router and hold if for a few seconds (briefly hitting it does not do a full reset, you need to hold it for a few seconds). This will restore the router to it's factory defaults and the address/password above should work.
I hope this helps. I don't get paid for this, I just like to help when I can. If you found this useful I hope you will give a positive rating. If this did not help I hope you'll ask additional questions.

I'm trying to set up two computers with DSL,but when we the tech tried to walk me thru it, did not work. Once the router was hooked up, couldn't get online. The tech is saying the router is faulty, but it worked just fine with Comcast. Switching from Comcast because cost keeps going up and going up again next year. Is D-Link compatible with DSL?
