WinDVD and GOM Player issues

Hi,

I've just downloaded and installed WINDVD 9 but when I try to view a DVD I get an error which simply says ''=1''. I'm trying desperately to capture still images from this DVD for a gift for my hubby and have now downloaded 3 programs today including GOM player which said that it had captured and saved the stills but it hadn't. Can someone please tell me how to fix one of these problems so I can capture these pics?

Thanks

I have tried pausing the DVD and screen dumping into Word (Paint and my calculator have disappeared from my Accessories list) but, while the whole screen is pasted, the actual DVD footage is black.

I did a reinstalation with the compaq instalation disc, there were 8,after that when i try to watch a video on either Real Player/Windows media player of winn the video moves like a robot start and stop and...

Windows XP does not natively have software to decode DVD video (thus the garbled video). You need to install a third-party DVD codec. Typically with Compaqs it came with PowerDVD or WinDVD that, once installed, allows you to view DVDs using their viewer or even media player.

Look through your CDs that came with your PC and see if there is one for WinDVD or PowerDVD and install it. Sometimes it will be on a CD labelled drivers or additional software.

Hope this helps,

I enter the serial number into the installation screen, but it continues to tell me it's incorrect.

sometimes serial number can be found on the file written on your disk and not on the sticker. try to browse your cd/dvd disc and look for it, they maybe written in txt format or document format

Intervideo windvd 7

Your antivirus is detecting the gpiproxy.dll as a "hacktool" or "virus". I suggest that you either uninstall or disable your AV when you reinstall WinDVD. I use Landesk AV and I finally figured out that the AV was not allowing the dll file to register or it was deleting it. So I uninstall Landesk, installed WinDVD and it worked fine. Afterwards I reinstalled Landesk and it still played the DVD fine.
