I have a dell Latitude cpx. The battery is charged and it will not turn on. The power light comes on for only a few seconds than shuts off. What can I do. Thanks.

From what you have said it sounds like your battery might be the problem. Have you connected the computer to the wall and tried to turn it on. Is the same happening then?
first be sure the battery is actually charging ..than second thing to take in mind is the Ram memory ..cause it is the first thing that computer sees for to boot.. i fthe lights came on ..and you still got no activity after you verify the ram memory in another computer .. the only thing that remain is the the cpu..but ..I thing in this case it is the ram memory ..or a power issue..
A blinking light normally indicates a dead battery; however, since it does not power up when power is plugged in, I would suspect that the power jack on the motherboard needs to be repaired. This would explain the lack of power and the inability to charge the battery.
I replace powerjacks a lot. Good luck.

try fiddling with the charger cable there might be a loose connection, fiddle with it until the charge light comes on then you will know what your problem is :)
try load defaults on bios by goin F2 on dell splash screen. if still no go, remove battery and leave adapter plugged in. if no power while adapter only plugged in, replace adapter, if has power while adapter plugged in, replace motherboard( since you already replaced the old battery).
if its the battery with a press button that lights up 5 green lights.. if u hold it for about 6 seconds it should light up all or some in a row like 000.. ( depends on charge it has) after 6 seconds none should flash , they should turn off . if any do flash or led green are missing in between its likely a bad battery.
