Remove your air intake hose at throttle body opening. Look at plate across front of the opening, the shaft in the center that it is attached to, will have your TP sensor on the end of it, at the outside of the housing. This may help. 2004 Mercury Mountaineer 4.6L V8 SOHC; where are the camshaft position sensors located?

the service manual has this, buy one, I have them for all my cars for 50 years owned, and I have a scan tool (over 6 year) for OBD2 USA care so I never miss out on CKP or CMP or P03xx errors ever.
well they are on the CAM shafts. SOHC is good to hear.
step 1 skipped, did not scan the PCm to see what P03xx errors called DTC you have.
page 1 in cam CMP error page states
Are DTCs P0340, P0344, P0345 or P0349 present?
location pages.
and below are the SOHC, CMP.

see red arrow below.
it must go to the cam and tells PCM which cylinder is fining

Where is fuel rail pressure sensor high input located on a mercury mountaineer

If you are talking about a trouble code for the pressure sensor, the sensor may be telling the computer the fuel pressure is too high. The sensor is mounted in the fuel rail on the engine.

2007 ford expedition wont rev past 2500 rpms in park or goin down the road

Start by checking your TPS switch (throttle position sensor) located on the throttle body . They turn while your foot pushes the accelerator pedal . TPS voltage goes from 0 to 5 volts and is easily checked with a volt meter .

2004 Mountaineer hesitates before accelerating from a stop. Dealer says it needs a new throttle body - $775. Any suggestions?

run fault codes to check for sensor problems first as it may be a throttle position sensor problem or MAP/MAF sensors

Throttle position sensor

Should be on the left or right side of the throttle body opposite side of where the accelerator cable attaches. The TPS is a reostat (Variable resister) that is turned by the armature running through the throttle body.

I have a 2004 mercury mountineer the servce engin light has come on and the engin fail safe mode. i had a test done on it and it says throttle actultor dontrol system could you please tell me what that...

Hi, your truck must use a stepper motor to control the throttle. The computer is getting a signal from the accelerator position sensor and trying to rotate the throttle, but it is having trouble either rotating the throttle or sensing the position of the throttle. If you can give me the exact trouble code, I may be able to say more about what the problem is.
