Question about Creative Labs Zen Touch MP3 Player

1 Answer

Mp3 driver Hi! I was given a philips DA1102 mp3 player for christmas. I plugged it into mum and dads computer and got it working. I have now gone back to my own flat with my own computer and plugged it in there. My computer does not seem to recognise the player. Does this mean I need to install a driver? If so, which do I need and how do I get one? Are there any other suggestions? Cheers, Doughnut

I plugged my Philips 4GB GoGearVibe mp3 player into my computer to charge but i am not sure if i plugged in all the way. This has happened before where the battery died but came back when my dad charged...

if you are charging via usb make sure you have the computer (if its a laptop) plugged in and if you are using a pc make sure your using one of the usb ports on the back as some usb ports will not carry the 5v needed to charge your player.

Plug the player into the USB socket of your (WIndows) computer.

The computer should detect it and, given a few moments, will displays a new drive in the explorer to represent your MP3 player.

Use the windows explorer to go into this drive and find the MP3 files.

You can just delete them, if that's what you want to do, or you can cut and paste them into the "My Music" folder on your computer, which will makesure Windows Media Player can pick them up and you have the choice of putting some or all of them back on the player.

If you want more help with your player, or this is not the kind of help you wanted, you can get manuals for your specific device at:

Just click on "product support" in the top left, which will bring on a box for you to identify your product.

Select "Accessories" > "Gigabeat" and your specific model number in the last column.

You will be taken to a page with your own manuals and support materials.

Will not turn on

Make sure that the hold/lock switch isn't engaged, and make sure it has been plugged into the computer for 3-4 hours to fully charge.
If it still won't work, run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager.

Unknown MP3 Player

Every manual for every mp3 player that Philips has ever made is available for download on their website -

I can give you some tips - go to their website and look at the mp3 players that they have - enter HDD as the model number and see if it matches any of those pictures (2005 models); if they don't look right, then enter SA as the model number and it will give you a huge list. Run the mouse over the lines that list 2GB (or 4GB as you say) mp3 players until you find a match. The /37 vs. /37B at the end of the model number is not significant, but the number after the SA is significant. Make sure you get it right, because once you find the candidate, you are going to click on the Software & Drivers link and download the software for a particular model - downloading the wrong software will cause problems.

Make sure you note any issues listed on the page for that model - some older GoGear's are ruined merely by plugging it into a computer that has either Windows Media Player or Windows Vista installed.

Good luck!

You may have failed to press and hold the button long enough.
  • Press and hold theplay and pause button until the Philips splash screen appears on display.
  • Do a soft reset
    • Take the battery out, wait approximately 10 seconds, then re-inserting the battery.
    • If nothing works then use the Firmware Manager to recover (Sometimes called restore or repair) your player:
      1. Press and hold the play and pause button while connecting the device to the PC.
      2. Start Firmware Manager.
      3. Your device will be automatically recovered.
