Hello !
Give this a try to remove, clean, and reinstall:
1. Confirm that the
printer is powered on.
2. Open the
paper output tray and top cover.
Note: Gently open the paper output tray
while holding it.
3. After confirming
that the print head holder has moved to the center, open the inner cover.
4. Remove all
ink tanks.
5. Raise the print head lock lever and remove the print head. Look for foreign matter.
6. Re-seat the print head into the print
head holder and lower the print head lock lever until a click is heard.
7. Insert the appropriate ink tank into the
slot at the right end and push down on the PUSH mark on top of the ink tank
until a click is heard. Install the other ink tanks in the same manner.
8. Close the inner cover and top cover.
Hope this helps.

- Hi, Naomi.
A few other suggestions to try:
Switch off the printer.
Disconnect the USB cable for 30 seconds.
Reconnect the USB cable
Power on the printer.
And, if still a problem ... it has been reported with some success that the resetting the Waste Ink Counter can resolve by forcing the printer into Service Mode. Here is how you do it:
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and
then press and hold down POWER Button.
3. Release the RESUME but continue to
hold down the POWER button
4. Press the RESUME twice, then release POWER
button.
Now you have put the printer in Service Mode so it will accept
Service commands.
Press the Resume button Four = Clean Waste Ink Counter
Press the Resume button Ten = Return to
selection Menu
To EXECUTE the above commands you "MUST Press
the Power button one time. Then the function will be executed. After that
function has been executed the printer will REMAIN in Service Mode,.. waiting
for another command.
