Hi there, no sound means an amplifier section problem, start with the speakers, test the speaker then check the amplifier section, it maybe some jack problem or remote mutting error. ty

RCA TV DVD Combo DVD makes loud grinding noise when playing DVD

does not sound correct. Perhaps the laser is hitting the DVD, or a gear is dirty. Anyway, if you keep playing with a strange noise in the player, it won't take long before it stops complete, or till you destroyed all your DVD's When you don't see scratches on the silver side of the DVD's, you should check (or let a technician check) what can be wrong with the player.

I am unable to connect my JVD to my Phillips dvd player and have it play. The TV cable is direct and does not come through a cable box.

** in order to listen and watch your DVD, DVD 's "2xRCA audio" and "1x RCA Video" cables for "OUT" should go to Tv "IN" connections separately ..("IN" goes to "OUT" of other ..pls remember,Always reverse connected ) (audio will come thru Receiver and TV.)
Since you successfully connected your Receiver to play video on TV (one way only ) ,here is the second reverse action if you wish to listen your TV on Receiver
** you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or "SCART "connector " of your TV .( every TV has different type of Audio out jacks )
** to "TV input "or "AUX input" or "Optic Cable input"
of your Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the necessary cables on your hand )
** than just switch to respective mode on
Receiver corresponding the connector you have used on the back of Receiver ..
There you go..Tv sound are on the
Receiver as well.

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.

Goodmans Tv wont show dvds

Usually with DVD players, picture & no sound, or sound & no picture is caused by the scart lead not being plugged in properly.

Sound pins are at one end of the connector and audio pins at the other.

If you are using scart make sure that the plugs at both ends are pushed in all the way. The plastic part of the plug should just touch the socket.

If you are using S-Video (Round connector with 4 pins) you also need to connect a twin phono-phono (Red & Black or White) lead to carry the audio, as S-Video only carries video.

is it a dvd/surround sound if so does your tv have audio out or just in if it dont have audio out rcas then you can buy a coax to rca converter like for dvd players but instead of running you dvd player through it to the tv run the coax cable from the tv to the converter where it says ant in then run the from the audio out of the converter to the surround sound they usually run from about 15 - 25 dollars and you can get the at wal-mart k-mart and radioshack and any other big electronic store around your area just make sure it has audio and video out to.... not just audio in
