Device manager says floppy is working but on boot

the floppy drive in the device manager refers to the controller on the board, NOT the drive itself. if the controller on the board can SEE the drive, Windows says its fine. Id suggest a new drive. theyre only about 20 bucks, and easy to install. I'd order a new floppy cable as well (just to be sure). Those are usually only an extra dollar if you buy it online in one shipment.
