Question about Itronix GoBook IX250 Notebook
I have an Itronix GoBook IX250 that I bought used. I need to install windows, so I have an old Windows 98 CD that I want to use. When the computer boots, it searches for the floppy drive (which I don't have), then searches CD. I have the disk in the CD drive, and then it lets me select to boot from Hard Disk or CD. When I select CD, it just goes to a flashing line in the upper left corner and nothing else happens. If I select hard drive, it says NO ROM BASIC System Halted. I did try changing the boot order, but I had the same results. I also tried setting the floppy drive so that it was not installed.
On of the first attempts, the computer did load the disk but after a few menus it said the computer must restart and now nothing works. Any ideas?
The problems you see when trying to install this Win 98 old thing is just the tip of the iceberg of driver problems, crashes and what not.
May I suggest a completely different approach?
How about installing Linux ubuntu? It can work with any Microsoft Document, surf the internet and has all the drivers you need built in. It can even run some of Windows applications.
Give it a try, what do you have to lose?
