My LCD screen shows no image, just a black screen with the HUD. It wont take pictures, but I can see pictures already taken just fine. What's wrong with it and how can I fix this? I haven't even had the camera for a year yet.
Yes, that was the first thing I checked. The lens is, as far as I can tell, unblocked. At least externally.Yes, that was the first thing I checked. The lens is, as far as I can tell, unblocked. At least externally.

Re: My LCD screen shows no image, just a black screen...
Check to make sure ur lens is opening up right, if it isn't, then that's your problem, if that isn't it, then i really don't know. Sorry if that happens.
Well then it might be an internal problem. I can't really help you then. Sorry. Try to figure out what the warranty is and try to return it or get it fixed.Well then it might be an internal problem. the image in the LCD monitor will darken in strong sunlight or bright light. This is normal occurrrence in device CCDs and does not contitute a malfunction. This image will not be recoded when shooting still photos, but it will be recorded wihen shooting movies.Read you owner manual and adjust the MENU, according with your o. manual.Otherwise you must go the repair shop God bless you
If the Live View shows areas of total black, the LCD is probably faulty and needs to be taken to a Canon Dealer for repair/replacement. I believe the pictures are still okay on the computer in this case?
The XTi and prior EOS models have not capability to see the live image to be shoot on the screen. Only the image after taken can see on the screen. Other images also using the view mode.
If you can't review the images, eve if the display is turned off, just after they are taken, maybe the "Review time" is set to "off". Go to settings, 3th tab, Review time and set the desired setting.

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not
see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else
worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback
as well.
I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told
the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito,
Ecuador)
A bit more explanation please Stevie
Is the Screen really blank[black] or can you see shadow images.
Or
Is it White blank?
And can you still take pictures even when the screen is in this state.
