Repeated paper jam in fuser

I was printing business cards using Avery's Clean Edge Business card 5871 stock when one sheet jammed at the fuser. Because the cards are meant to separate, the sheet fell apart, and I had to pull severl pieces out. After I had taken out all the pieces I could find, I esumed printing, but again had a jam at the same point. I tried a couple more times using plain paper, and got the same result at the same point every time. I noticed also that there seemed to be a wrinkling at a small section ofthe fuser. Thanks for any help you can send my way.

I replaced the fuser last night with a new one, but got another paper jam. I haven't tried printing again, didn't want to damage this new one. Thank you all for your responses. Please keep 'em coming. At this point, I'm now thinking of getting a different brand printer, but Im going to get stuck with a new fuser and unused toners. I'm willing to give it one more sot. Does anybody have any info on how I can look at the point before the paper gets to the fuser? That may be where the jam starts. Thanks very much again!

Regular paper gets jammed, too. I tried 20 lb weight paper thinking the card stock weight was too thick, but it got jammed just the same. Just background info, I've done over 500 business cards of the same brand and type before without any problems. Thanks again for the latest tip. Don't be shy about giving me more! It's much appreciated!

Exact location of jam on a single sheet is?? Fuser

Are you using bypass and face up tray??? Yes

print out a status page via printer keypad does it occur then too (think its online held done for 5 secs)???? Yes

The paper ends up folded like an accordion. Please see the attached photos. Thanks again for your help!

Printer's up! Soulvisitor's diagram helped me locate the jamming point. Rollers at 16, 17, 23 had been inverted, probably when I was reaching for the jammed cards. Thanks very much, Soulvisitor, your'e the person! and all the others who pitched in during my time of need! Hope I can return the favor someday.

Fuser's orange roller is not meant to be wrinkled, if this is then I would recommend you replace it (just slides out) pic below
Repeated paper jam in fuser - b4eead5.jpg If printing on card, you need to feed via manual bypass and exit from the back, not on the top, aka the "face up tray." Tray pulls out from rear. Rear tray will only stack a few card sheets at once.

Setting on printer's control panel must be set to card/heavy paper type on manual bypass tray

Their may still be some card in fuser causing jams.

Please rate as FIxya or post back,
Cheers
S. :-)

please confirm paper type is set to card on keyboard of printer and you are using bypass to feed and face up tray for exit.

maxium paper weight is 203 gsm so ensure card stock is not heavier than this, does it feed normal paper ok?

Very important to know if when just a single sheet is printed if it gets jams, ie not printing two sheets, because if we are talking of a jam that occurs only when printing multipull sheets but not on a single.

We speak in different tounges I speak grams and you pounds. But no matter if you have tried normal weight paper. Here its 80gsm so maybe thats 20 lb

This is so typical of a fuser fault, but you have changed it, so it must be set of rollers after the fuser aint turning, check that set of rollers on lid are connecting exit rollers when lid is closed

above:-Area A is where I'd be looking, the bits I marked with o is check gears in that area, for missing teeth. Please note tray marked 35 is the face up exit tray.

somewhere on above unit is the problem, rollers marked 16 and 17 I have seen not connect to a set of rollers on lid causing issue like yours, also check 20,19,18 for free movement.

Try placing the business card sheet in the main paper bin instead of the manual feed or adjusting the print orientation from Portrait to Landscape or vice versa.

Printer problem

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Only prints business cards correctly on plain paper, but not on the card stock.

I am the guy with the hp d'jet D2445. I ran out of card stock in failed attempts. Not wanting to give up I bought more (Avery, no serrations) and it worked fine. Don't ask why.
