handset keeps searching for base
I have the same problem

I have a Vtech phone, installed only a few months ago. This morning I cannot call out on it at all. In the window it says connecting. I have tried to disconnect the phone line and wait 15 sec. and plug back in. No luck. it still shows " connecting" in the window. I don't know what else to do, PLEASE help ulrich2@att.net

You may need to set the handset in the base for 30 seconds. Press the page/find button on the base, if you have one on your model.

You should also verify that you have power to your base. Make sure that it is the base, and not an extra charger, if you have more than one phone!

YOU ARE AMAZING YOUR SOLUTION HAS WORKED FOR ME,I NOW HAVE 5 WORKING PHONES THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, I BOUGHT THEM THIS WEEK AND FELT LIKE PUTTING THEM IN THE BIN.HOW COME PANASONIC DON'T TELL YOU TO DO THIS IN THEIR OPERATING INSTRUCTION? THANKS AGAIN OLY.
