Re: phone

You may need to set the handset in the base for 30 seconds. Press the page/find button on the base, if you have one on your model.

You should also verify that you have power to your base. Make sure that it is the base, and not an extra charger, if you have more than one phone!

Good luck!

Re: phone

Check the base for the ID number on the bottom. If you key in this number, the handset will work.

Display keeps saying 'searching'

I don't have this model but I have had two Siemens phone systems. Typically, when the handset says "Searching" it is trying to connect to the base station (the part actually connected to the phone line). This can happen if the handset is too far from the base station to connect to it wirelessly. It can also happen if the handset has become unregistered from the base station (or was never registered to begin with). If the distance issue is not the problem, look in your documentation for how to register the handset and give that a try.

Siemens Gigaset 4200 Cordless keep searching for base

The handset should be returned to the charging station, let it set for a few seconds. If this is a satellite phone, make sure the main phone "base unit" is connected to phone outlet and plugged in. After the phone has established its physical connection with the base again you can remove it and use it like normal.

Hi I have a Cordless Uniden Dect 6.0 and also another one that sitts on a bitter base. My problem is this: the cordless with the smaller base shows the message 'Searching' and wont do anything,...

Welcome to FixYa.

Reset the units/set up by doing the following:
  • Turn OFF all the HANDSETS.
  • Remove the batteries of the HANDSETS.
  • Unplug the power source of the BASE.
  • Unplug the phone line of the BASE.
  • Let it stay that way for 30 mins.
  • Insert the battery again of the HANDSETS, make sure it is charged properly.
  • Plug back the power source of the BASE.
  • Plug back the phone line to the BASE.
  • Register any handset that is unregistered (refer to manual).

Keep me posted.

Base unit on bt synergy 3505 keeps beeping and handset keeps displaying base 1 and losing signal.... intermitent fault....have changed batteries in handset and switched unit on and off but still not...

If the handset displays 'Searching', 'Base' or 'Range out' on the screen, this indicates that the handset has lost its link with the base. The following procedure should be followed to help resolve the problem:
  • Confirm that the power lead has not been inadvertently disconnected from the base.
  • Ensure that the handset batteries are correctly installed and are fully charged.
  • Ensure that the handset and base are within range of each other.
  • Switch the mains power off, wait five seconds and then turn it on again. This will reset your product.
  • Carry out a reset procedure on both the handset and the base to return the settings back to the factory default. Your user guide will guide you through the correct procedure.
  • If none of the above remedies solve your problem, please contact the helpdesk.

Hi My phone battery died and I recharged it. Now it is not recognizing the base and keeps searching.

Press and hold the end key, then while holding the end key, press and hold the # key. After 3 or 4 seconds the handset will beep and ask if you want to deregister the handset, select "Base unavailible" and confirm. Then the handset should read "Handset not registered". Place it on the base charging cradle and it should register.

Handset won't work

I went through this exercise with a Siemens Gigaset 8800. The solution is to DE-register the handset first. Then register it with your base. This function can likely be accessed in the handset menu. The phone you purchased is apparently still registered to the previous user's base.

Phone says searching

The battery may be weak. Or it is too far from the base. Try exchanging the two. take the handset near the base and see if it will link.

Hello, Yes this happens when you add a additional handset to the system when all the intercom numbers are full. When registering a new handset, it "kicks out" on of the other handsets when it registers. The only way to correct that problem is to default your base and register each handset again, one by one. You won't lose your handset settings, but you will lose your messages and greetings, so check them before doing so. To default your unit, get all your handsets and go to your base. Unplug the power from your base. Hold down the page/registration key on the bottom of the base and keep it held down while you apply power to the base. After applying power, keeping the button down, count to 20. Then release the button and get each handset. Register each handset, and they will number themselves 1 through 4. If you need additional assistance, service or need to purchase another handset or base (you can register each handset to up to four bases to increase your range, this is unique feature in the cordless industry), you can go to for all your Siemens cordless needs. Good Luck ! Let us know how it goes, we have a testimonial page on the website for people to leave comments on the technical tips or assistance they receive from our technicians.
