This is a firmware problem that is very common in newer electronical devices especially cameras. You may get lucky enough to find an upgrade program online, but most chances are that you will have to send the camera in to the manufacture and they will repair it for $50

May be some dust particles have gone in the lens well between the body and the lens casing. Try to **** it out with the vacuum cleaner.

what i did for this was, remove the memory card, charge the battery fully, once fully charged, hold the on button and push very lightly down on the lens. had to do it twice to get it right for me. once it was fully in i shut it off and pulled the battery out for a few minutes.
do not push the lens in to hard, it will crack or get out of alignment.
hope this helped it fixed it for me
