Ticking noise coming from mb no post tried removing ram still the same remove all cards no effect.

hi Jim:) this sounds more like the HD because ticking is more commonly associated with it than w/the motherboard. also fans get noisy as the bearings wear out...usually a "ticking" (if it is a fan) indicates something interfering with the blades? (dust bunny etc) a noisy hard drive is a warning sign to make sure any data you value is backed up because "noisy" hard drives can become paper weights any time. there is also a fan in the power supply(PSU) that could be a source of for the motherboard...there is nothing on the board that would make noise as there are no moving parts. of course none of this explains why you cannot get to the p.o.s.t which is usually the result of a fried mother board, processor and/or the PSU. you could try replacing these things one at a time w/a startup attempt after each one but after many years of servicing computers my instinct tells me it's *********** board because this is what's most common. sorry i don't have better news for you but i hope this helps and if you need anything else just ask:)

I have a usb flash drive which when i try to write to it or delete files it tells me it is write protected and i must remove the write protection first. can you help

USB drives can be write-protected by modifying the StoreageDevicePolicies Registry key and WriteProtect Registry value.
click Start>run>regedit to open Registry Editor. and press control+F to open the find dialogue box and type "usb device" or "driverdesc" to open usb mass storage device or type "usb mass storage device" in the search windows. And right click on it and delete. This will set the policy value to 0. then insert your usb device. It will work fine.
# Remember: do not delete any unknow files in the registry as this will make some programes not work as usual.

If you are running a Windows XP OS then you might be able to:
- click start right click on my computer select open
- Right click the icon of your Flash Drive (It should be F:/ or something)
- Click Properties in the menu that comes up
- Click the Sharing tab
- Click permissions
- And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.
hope this helps:

I installed a buffalo external hard drive 1.5tb, at first i can access the drive but now it's was making a weird clicking sound, and i can't access the drive. All it says loading and the my computer says...

Sounds like the hard drive is faulty. A clicking noise would indicate that the drive's heads are failing at reading the disk (thus retrying again and again). And of course, while this happens, your computer is waiting for the disk to respond (so you experience a long period of time where the computer doesn't respond as well).
If the disk is still under warranty, you can (and should) have it replaced. Hopefully you have a backup of all the important files in it.

Screen stays black and power button is flashing and cannot turn off

unplug from the wall let it cool down 1/2hr
test all leads that are attached from your motherboard to your hard drive or just replace them there probably old and faulty
then reboot
during the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup
Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart then
once you have your computer running try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive then you might hope this helps

Procedures how to recover my files from defective mother board

If you have a flash drive or a thumb drive, put it in the usb port and then the files you don't want lose copy them over to the flash drive. After you do that then go ahead and restore your system and after the restore you can go ahead and copy those files from the flash drive back onto the hard drive again.
