I had your exact problem. My fix was resoldering the battery contact where it mates on the circuit board of the remote. ( It should be connected at 3 places ) The center and left were not making contact. only the panic button side was. Works like new now. btw while its apart use a pencil eraser to clean the button contacts.

I assume the factory alarm was somehow bypassed when they installed the remote start is there a way I can make the factory alarm work when the doors are opened without key,?

To arm content theft alarm.
1. Open the door.
2. Lock the door with the power door lock switch or
the remote keyless entry transmitter. The
SECURITY light should flash.
3. Close all doors. The SECURITY light should go off
after approximately 30 seconds. The alarm is not
armed until the SECURITY light goes off.

If a locked door is opened without the key or the remote keyless entry transmitter, the alarm will go off. The headlamps and parking lamps will flash for two minutes, and the horn will sound for 30 seconds, then will turn off to save the battery power.

The alarm turns on when I put the key is in the door lock. Is there alarm reset?

Are you using an aftermarket key or the original? It may have a chip in it. Also if you have a spare original try it.

Keyless remote locks the doors but the horn doesn't honk.

Your lock settings were most probably changed from your remote unit. By pressing both lock and unlock keys together for around two to three seconds you can switch between silent mode and horn mode. Hooe that helps...
