Hi
I brought Toshiba QOSMIO G45-AV680 Laptop in USA in Sep,07 for USD 3200. I brought that to India. It crashed (blue screen) 3 times in a day after 7 days. I called up Toshiba Support and they asked me to put the recovery DVD and load the OS (Vista Ultimate) again. Ater that Laptop is not starting from battery even though Batttery is fully charged. When I connect the A/C power and when i press the power button then it switches ON and every thing is fine. When I try switch ON with battery fully charged then it won't. I called Toshiba Support and they asked to remove the battery and put it back and switch and it started and they said this problem is due to stastic electricity!!!. But i noticed this is happening every time. When ever i want to work on the laptop with battery fully charged then I need to remove the battery and put the battery back, then only it will switch on. If I shutdown again and try to start from battery then also same probelm.
Again I called Toshiba and they are saying that it might be Hardware problem and they want to laptop back in USA to get this checked by their support center. Since I am in India it is difficult to sned this USA and bring it back.
Any help.
I have the same problem with the machine not starting when battery is fully charged and not plugged in. I discovered too that if I removed the battery and reinstalled it, the machine would then power up fine.
I have upgraded the bios as well and it still does the same thing, although I can get it to start sometimes now.
While I'm on this subject. This machine is a 64 bit machine. But the bios does not support it. I have installed linux 64 bit, but Windows Vista 64 bit refuses to load because "Intel Virtual Technologies" is not enabled in the bios. And the bios has no place to enable it. The last bios update was several months ago.(v.2.20).

I have the same problem. I have got it to work sometimes now by playing with the power button. But it's still not right.
