Inspiron 6000 just died

My dell inspiron 6000 just shown a screen flicker in red and everything vanished, i immediatly switched off and kept it off over night, next day it started up and did the same after 3 hours, i had to keep it off again for a day coz it wont boot up, this happened twice, and now the damn thing is dead, after pressing the power switch, 'A' starts to flash and every thing winds down, i checked fan and stuff, everything seems to be wroking fine, there is no power issue, batt is good, no idea of what has happened?

I suffered the same problem, in fact there is nothing wrong with the lap top, u r having a "dry joint" problem for that u have to open the laptop, ( see u tube for opening procedure) disconnect the screen leads and replug them, watch out for any static charge or dry joint signs, i did the same and my laptop have recovered and never repeated the problem.....Good luck

Just a thought on this. Is it possible that the fan vents are plugged up and the machine is unable to cool. Now keep in mind the fact that it now it wont boot at all. Overheating of the CPU has limits so to speak. The CPU may be damaged. Bottomline here sure that the fan can vent heat out of your machine.

My Dell Inspiron 6000 (which I think I bought in

Have you tried this:
1. After removing the battery
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 sec.
3. Put back the battery
4. Turn it on

if this doesnt work, there could be a problem with your operating system. Try accessing safe mode if you can login .TAP F8 continously on the dell logo screen, and it will open advance boot options. (Just select safe mode) If safe mode boots properly try running system restore to restore it back to the previous date where your computer is still booting to windows. Hope this helps

My inspiron 6000's power flickers on and off intermittently, switching between A/C & battery power. I've replaced the power cord. Any other ideas?

Try removing batt and use ac adapter alone. Check if laptop works fine also check if LED flickers still.

Try removing ac adapter and use battery alone and check if batt flickers as well.

If flickering only happens when both are connected or vice versa try this first. Update the BIOS for your laptop. Download the BIOS update from http;//

Problems with Dell Inspiron 6000 Battery ? DELL Inspiron 6000 laptop battery is popular, why ?

You can also pick up the batteries less expensive than most computer places at batteries plus. And yes it sounds as though it is the batteries charge is getting low, especially if it runs fine when the battery is out and you have it plugged in.
