the 'F5' key which should toggle the display from screen to monitor does not work. I can use the graphics menu to achieve the change, but not 'Fn+F5'. any ideas?

- thanks for your offer - I tried it and found out what the little 'z' icon is - it puts the laptop into standby mode.

-   I ams still sitting with this problem- I believe it may have to do with the installation of the Wireless Acer projector, as this problem arose (in both Lap-Tops) after the installation of the Projector software. I have installed Launch manager & I have tested my F-Keys in other applications - there they work. But the Fn & F5 still somehow are not married to the function they are supposed to be. - Is there perhaps another software required to be installed??-   ast9tjk

-   I appologise - am having a blond moment - & do not know how to respond to answers!! The F5 key does work in other sofware. The Fn F5 problem I have now encountered in 2 LapTops.
Try using the function key F5 in windows and other softwares... This is to determine that the key is not defective, because if it does then at least you have the idea that it is really a problem... Then have it checked by a technician to make remedy or to a repair shop to replace the part..
Following an advice in this forum I loaded the launch manager for the travelmate 6592, installed it and It put working on the silver P key of the laptop, i.e. the launch manager, and at the same time the fn+F5 key started to working on again. For a long time this key was disappeared from me laptop, just the same time that the fn+F5 key didn`t work.
Try updating or reinstalling the Acer Launch Manager. The Fn + F5 will only work if the dual display mode is set to "Clone" and not "Extended Desktop" so far as I've tested.
My friend had this problem on his Acer TravelMate 3274. I went to the Acer Europe site and downloaded a new version of the Launch Manager from: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/tm_3270.html
Installed, restarted and keys worked like a dream.

My Acer lost Fn F5 functionality, too. But directly after automatic Windows Updates. I am sure that Windows Updates is the culprit.

Fujitsu Lifebook S7020. Powers up but no display, even on external vga. I have tried to remove battery and press power button.. After one attempt this got the display back working but the pc froze on windows start up. Since restart now no display again. Any ideas?
I have the same problem with an Acer 4070 and 6592. It appears to have been initiated after the AcerWPG (Wireless Projector) software was installed onto the laptops. The other function keys work, but they no longer display their action on the screen (e.g. Volume), on the 4070 the Mailing hot-key appears to be US. I am able to access the graphic displays from the desktop, but my users insist they would like the Function keys (Hot Keys) to work!!
