Styrofoam inside Hi, I just opened my newly purchased Kenmore 335 Air Purifier, and found that it had a styrofoam piece inside the purifier.... is it supposed to be there or I need to open the unit and remove it? Thank you, Ella

That is packing materials. It was placed there to protect the vent louvers on the front from breaking during shipping. Apparently, some of them chipped or broke and found their way into the louver section. Simply clean them out. Small pieces can be sucked out with a vacuum that has a hose and crevice tool attachment.

Yes. You will have a prefilter and after that you will have a HEPA filter. Keep good maintenance on the prefilters which are not washable. You will need to check it once a month to see if it is time to replace. If you have good maintenance on the unit and change the cheaper prefilter, you will get years of service out of you HEPA filter. Bad maintenance means replacing the HEPA filter which is a good chunk of the cost of the purifier.

The bottom Grey piece turns 1/2" clockwise and 4 "D" batteries come out - replace yearly.

there should be a directional arrow to show which way air flow should go, if its framed it will have a pull tab that goes facing out, if it a piece that looks the same on both sides, it can go in either way, if it has a white side it goes facing in
