Sony wega rear projection 50" won't turn on

I took off rear panel looking for any blown fuses but could not find any. Is it the power supply?

Yes thats what it was, The G1 Board is the power supply. $186 plus $16.99 for service manual and now it's fixed.

    Dear Web Master

I have to apologize for submitting this service tip. I was so sure it would fix my TV that I prematurly submitted it.

The G1 board did not fix my TV after all.

I don't want to mislead anyone and have them buying a circuit board that won't fix there TV.

I would like to post the real solution.

I replaced the "The Thermal Fuse" part # A-1137954-A.

It is located behind the optics fan and below the optical block.

Again I apologize and I'll be sure any future solution I submit are tried and true.

Hello,

power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

if it turn off after sec then go to red light then it is common power supply board, but you need to check all your board fusees then look at all capacitors if it blown then replace it with the same type but when the board out the TV and be very careful for power , also get another opinion. good luck

My sony 50" wega just quit. No picture , no sound , no nothing ?

Hi,
If you see standby red light blinking on Tv front with 3 seconds interval then count its blinks from pause to pause and let me know, its an error code.
And if TV does not even show standby light then check fuse in power supply that would be blew off for some reason, replace it.
Still problem? let me know with exact model number of your Sony TV.
Thanks.

Sony wega tv that turns on and automatically turns off

6 flashes is a thermal fuse blown in the lamp chamber. If you are not familure with tv repair then you might want to leave it to a pro. but to get the right part number for the kit i need the model you have. If you want the kit part number post back.

Sony WEGA 50 turning off every 30 seconds

The protection circuit is cutting in and out and it is really just a high current detection system.
This is very typical of loose connections and cold solder joints which are easily diagnosed by giving the set a whack with your hand in a few strategic places.
Also check the fuse on the power supply board .

Sony Trinitron WEGA won't turn on

6 blink error is either a power supply (g2 board) or a blown thermal fuse. if it came back on, its not the thermal fuse so you would need a new g2 board. if it blinks 5 times, you need a new ballast (lamp driver)
