My son was using this receiver and the front panel went out. Radio does not come on, and there seems to be no activity, other than the power light comes on, standby works, and I can see the outside front panel that shows prologic, vd1, surround sound choices. Can you help with potential problems
I have the same problem

When powered on, the unit will stay on for two to five seconds than it shuts down, as if there is an overload.
Have dropped an email to harman/kardon the response was.
1. There is a problem internally with the receiver.
2. There is a problem with one or more of your speakers.
3. There is a problem with one or more of your speaker wires.
4. There is a problem with the speaker wiring done on your system.
5. The unit is overheating. No ventilation

I didn't hear a loud sound, but I have the same problem. One day, the front panel flickered and then just went out, never to come back on. The surround sound and audio select (video 1, video 2, CD, etc) lights are on, but no front panel display. There is absolutely no sound coming out the speakers, nor the headphones, if you I plug a pair in. Please let me know if any of you find something out!! Thanks.

i'm the last person that posted wanted to add that we heard a pop in the speakers when the system went out. We'll be taking the box apart soon to see if we can diagnose it...(fuse?)
