I have a 14 16 year old Ruud furnace. At the end of the heating cycle, after the gas has been turned off, there is a squeaking noise like metal is rubbing (I though metal as it cooled). It was behind the panel that the inductor fan is mounted to, so I removed the induction fan to see if that was the cause. What I noticed was that the inner chamber to the induction fan was mis-aligned and was offset by a couple of inches. I would assume this is not good as it probably means the heating elements may be damaged. Is this a serious problem? can it be fixed by a hand homeowner like myself? does it point to a bigger problem?
Since it is in the area of the induction fan I would be worried as to a possible carbon monoxide issue. To be on the safe side I would have the system looked at by a service Tech.. Good Luck hope this helped

HI, I have a ruud UBHC AC system, a couple yrs ago i replaced the old honeywell stat with a shiny new ritetemp,(which i was told would work) but now that it finally got chilly here in Florida i'm finding that may not be the case .. Wires coming from my old Honeywell were H(blue 24v from one side of transfomer in the heat exchager) W(white) Y(yellow) G(green) and R(red 24v from the other side of the transformer in the exchanger) I wired to the ritetemp as following g to g .. w to w .. y to y... r to RH/RC and H to C which was as per the manual.. when i turn on my AC to Heat the heat pump seems to run but i get no Aux heat so inside the ritetemp stat theres jumper to kick in AUX only heat (no heatpump) so i jumpered that.. NO aux heat .. the fan runs but no heat, i went inside the exchanger and no mattter how i configure this i cannot get 240v onto the heater element. The reason i need the aux heat is it seems that the heat pump is not working properly and it needs the extra push.. it only gets to 60degrees before settling there and providing no more heat.
