That depends, I've discovered through experience with replacing those "rps" , the fault actually was in the control. It was displaying an F50, but the rps was fine.
Make sure your model & serial number don't fall under the recent rework issued by whirlpool,(give me the serial & model and I have a list I can check) if so the control will be replaced free of charge to you. Otherwise price out a new control. Sorry I can't provide part number or price right now, I'm on my iphone and not at home pc.
Hope that helps.
Good Luck

- Hello,
It would appear your washer (according to the serial number) actually is built after the rework affected machines. The machines affected in the rework only include those starting with a serial number CS48 to CS52 and CT01 to CT49 units. Those are the first four digits in the serial number and only those are included for updates/reworks.
What this means of course is, unfortunately the control will not be covered by whirlpool (unless stated otherwise in your owners manual) and it usually retails for around $150-$175US. Part number to look for is a #1469076. Check your local parts depot or service centers. you can also find it on-line at many distributors, i.e "apwagner.com". "reliableparts.com" and "repairclinic.com" or "searspartsdirect.com" to name a few.
