Singer 9410 bobbin problems

I have a Singer 9410. When I press the indent on the hand wheel disc; it does not stop the needle from going up and down. Does this affect the way the bobbin winds? The bobbin has not been winding incorrectly (tangled) and the threads on the bottom stiching come out loose and uneven

It should not affect the winding, the reason the needle is still going up and down is because the oil has gone dry on the shaft and unless you can get to the shaft where the balance wheel is then it would be wise to take the machine in for a service, loose stitching on the bottom is a tension problem, make sure the top tension is set about 4 or 5

How to thread singer sewing machine 5810

First, raise the needle (and the thread-take up lever) with the hand wheel; always turn this wheel towards you. If the needle doesn't go up, your machine may be in bobbin winding mode. Press the hand wheel disc on the side opposite the indent. Raise the pressure foot using the lifter behind the needle and pressure foot.

Now place the spool on the spool pin and add the spool pin cap. Now you work the thread from right to left and go down, up and down again. Lead the thread to the thread guide at the back of the machine and snap the thread into the guide. Bring the thread forward and with one hand bring the thread under the guide and through the slot. Bring the thread down and around the tension. Hold the spool lightly and pull up the thread to lift the spring. That will let the thread go under the thread guard. Guide the thread into the take-up lever by placing the thread over the top of the lever and sliding it up into the notch. Bring the thread down through the next two thread guides; the last one is at the needle clamp. Then thread the needle from front to back.

Most Singer manuals are available here: https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to the manual for the 5810 is https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/fl_attachment/Singer-Website-Library/outdated_product/SINGER_5806_5808__5810__6620_and_8220_Sewing_Machines.pdf . See page 15 for the start of the threading steps.

I hope this helps. Earlier pages in the manual cover winding and inserting the bobbin.

How to wind a bobbin singer merrit 3130

To wind a bobbin on the 3130, first raise the presser foot and bring the needle to the highest point in its travel cycle. Next hold the outside of the hand wheel with one hand. While holding the outside of the hand wheel, turn the knob inside the hand wheel towards yourself (counter-clockwise if you face the right side of the sewing machine). Make sure that the spool of thread is on the spool pin with the spool's thread retaining notch to the right. Put the appropriate spool holder on the spool pin. Snap the thread into the thread guide in to the left of the spool holder. Lift the top cover to expose the bobbin winding mechanism. Snap the thread into the bobbin winder tension disc by wrapping it around the front of the disc and then bringing it back towards the bobbin winding spindle. The bobbin winder tension disc is to the left of the top cover. Put the thread through the hole in the bobbin from the center of the bobbin. Keep the hole up and put the bobbin on the spindle. Push the spindle to the right. Hold the thread above the bobbin and start the machine. After a few rotations, you can let go and cut this part of thread. Restart the sewing machine and let it finish winding the bobbin. Once the bobbin is full, move the spindle to the left and remove the bobbin from the spindle. Cut the spool thread to release the bobbin to put it in the bobbin case. Hold the hand wheel and turn the inner knob away from yourself.

Singer has most of their manuals available here: https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to the Merrit 3130 manual is https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/fl_attachment/Singer-Website-Library/outdated_product/SINGER_244_288_588_875_972_974_1195_3130_3140_3145_and_3150_Sewing_Machines.pdf .See page 23 (page 25 of the PDF) for the pictures for winding a bobbin.

I hope this helps.

Free singer 2430 manual

Singer indicates that the 2430 to the Merritt 2404. The Merritt 2404 manual is available on the Singer support site: https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to this manual is https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/9bb8bc029ac33374a16f6ef37fdb37c14c7a8356_0.pdf . To wind the bobbin, make sure that the needle is up and lift the presser foot. Hold the hand wheel with one hand and keep it from moving. With the other hand, loosen the knob in the center of the hand wheel by turning the knob towards you. If the thread is not already on the spool pin, place it on the spool pin with the thread retaining slit to the right. Put the spool holder on the spool pin so that it holds the spool firmly.

Next snap the thread through the thread guide post and open the top cover. (If you have been sewing with the spool, unthread the upper thread back to the guide post.) Wrap the thread the bobbin tension disc going clockwise as you look at the top of the disc. (Bring the thread in front of the machine as you move to the left; then bring around to the back as you bring it to the bobbin winder.) Bring the thread up through the hole in the bobbin. Place the bobbin on the spindle with the hole up. Move the bobbin winder to the right. Hold onto the thread above the bobbin while you start winding the bobbin. After a few turns are on the bobbin, you can let go. After the bobbin is full (or full enough for your task), clip the thread and remove the bobbin. Move the bobbin winder to the left. Tighten the knob in the hand wheel by turning it away from you while holding the hand wheel.

I hope this helps.

Why won't my old manual singer sewing machine needle move?

1. Disengage the bobbin winder. That is done by moving the arm away from the center wheel. 2. Tighten the hand wheel. When you tighten you should have resistance like a jar has. If this doesn't then continue. 3. Loosen the small screw attached to the hand wheel center lug. Now, move the hand wheel into a position where it will tighten. 4. Go ahead and tighten the small screw. Now, it should move.

I have a singer sewing machine 247 . I broke the needle and have replaced it now the bobbin will not turn.

CHANGE THE NEEDLE. TAKE OUT ALL OF THE BOBBIN CASING. CLEAN IT AND PUT ONE DROP OF OIL ON THE RACE (THE INDENT AREA THAT EVERYTHING RIDES ON AND CAN'T BE REMOVED). LOOK FOR A BROKEN NEEDLE PART AND THREAD AND ANYTHING THAT SHOULDN'T BE THERE. PUT EVERYTHING BACK. TURN THE HAND WHEEL TOWARDS YOU AND OBSERVE IF THERE IS ANYTHING TOUCHING THE NEEDLE. IF THERE IS THEN THAT WILL NEED TO BE FIXED.

Thread a bobbin on a 5825c

If you mean the Singer 5285C, the manual is available from Singer here: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/449_5_6_8_10_slide.pdf . The diagram for winding the bobbin is on page 14 and inserting the bobbin is on page 15.

I'll attempt to walk through the steps. Push in on the indent on the hand wheel to lock the needle in the current position (note rotate the needle up first). Then with a spool on the spool pin and the cap securely holding the spool on the pin, snap the thread through the thread guide post (near the center back of the top of the machine). Then wind the thread clockwise through the bobbin tension guide (towards the center front of the top of the machine). Next run the thread through the hole in the bobbin (inside to outside). Place the bobbin on the bobbin spindle on the front of the machine near the right hand side of the machine. Hold onto the thread end at the bobbin and start pushing down of the foot controller. Fill the bobbin to the amount of thread that you need, or until it stops. Cut the thread going from the spool to the bobbin.. Remove the bobbin from the spindle and trim the thread end that is sticking through the hole in the bobbin. Press the hand wheel disc on the side opposite from the indent.

Inserting the bobbin requires you to lift the presser foot and have the needle in the highest position. Slide open the face plate and remove the empty or wrong color bobbin. With the hole in the bobbin up, pull about 4" of thread off the bobbin. Place the bobbin in the bobbin case and hold it down lightly with a finger. Guide the thread through the notch near the front of the bobbin case. Then lead the thread down into the slot on the left and then around the second notch. The thread should be heading towards the center of the bobbin (left to right). Pull the thread diagonally back to the back of the machine and slide the bobbin cover closed. The thread should be coming up through the opening between the cover and the needle faceplate. To pull up the bobbin thread, thread the needle and then hold onto this top thread. Rotate the hand-wheel towards you until the needle rises above the needle plate. Gently tug on the top thread to bring up the loop of thread. Separate the needle thread from the bobbin thread with your fingers. Bring the top thread through the left side opening in the presser foot and then pull both threads to the back of the machine.

I hope this helps.

Why is my singer SEWING MACHINE prelude HAND WHEEL RESISTING

Make sure the bobbin winder is in the position away from the bobbin stopper. When you fill a bobbin, you have to push the "spindle" towards the handwheel. If you do not push the "spindle" back into position (away from the handwheel), the wheel will remain locked.

Machine will not go forward when pressing the foot pedal. Manual says something about checking bobbin winder indent. What is a "Bobbin winder indent."

bobbin winder is the little spindle on top usually right side above the flywheel. you need to move it left away from the stop as this engages the bobbin winder and disengages the needle movement. your manual should show this under Winding a bobbin. these machines dont have a clutch on the flywheel, just moving the bobbin spindle declutches

Machine No. K1831(256) No.28 how do you set up the stop motion wheel to wind bobbins. It either winds bobbins whilst sewing or just free wheels. I think there must be a way of adjusting this action....
