Re: wireless computer won't connect to internet

Somewhere in the network connections settings I recall seeing a checkbox to tell the laptop to automatically determine the IP address when connecting (as opposed to using the same one every time). Sorry I don't recall more specific directions ....

I baught this belkin router at a yard sale, when I got it there was no disc to install it on my computer,I have hooked it up and it says I am connected but when I try to get on line it can't find the sever.

From what I can tell you are using Mozilla Firefox Try using Internet Explorer if ip address id not valid it will tell you Internet Explorer cannot display webpage In order to renew ip address these are the steps you will want to take:
1. Ensure the equipment is connected correctly(Ethernet cord from modem to Internet port on router
2.Open network connections Win XP:Start/Run/Type ncpa.cpl
Vista/Win 7 Start/search bar/type ncpa.cpl
3.This will bring you to your network connections window
4.If using XP: Double click on wireless connection and hit the support tab. Ensure it is assigned by DHCP and the ip address should start with 192.
5. If Vista Or Windows 7 Right click on wireless conenction and hit properties. Uncheck version Internet Protocol Version 6
6. Click and Highlight internet protocol Version 4 and hit properties
7. ensure that it shows obtain ip address and obtain a dns server automatically
8.After go to Command Prompt (Win XP) Start/Run/Type CMD
Windows7/Vista:Start Start/All Programs/Accessories/Right click on command prompt and hit run as administrator then hit continue type in these commands.
1.netsh int ip reset reset.log
2.netsh int ip delete arpcache
3.netsh winsock reset
4.ipconfig /flushdns
9. Restart Computer hope this helps please rate thank you

Lost install disk

You don't even need the installation disk! Just do these easy steps:
Plug in your PC directly to your router. And make sure it is turned on. Also plug in your MODEM into the routers modem port.
On your computer open up Internet Explorer. Then in the address box type in: routerlogin, net
User: admin Pass: password
if password for the password does not work then just leave the box blank. Then just complete the steps.
If this works or if you need help then PLEASE email me:
email me wither it works or not!

This is actually wrong:

If your router is connected to your computer via ethernet cable you will be able to get the configuration page of the router.

Windows XP
1. Click start
2. Click run
3. Type cmd in the box and press enter
4. On the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
5. Look for the default gateway
6. Copy that and use that to access the configuration page using the internet explorer
7. Open internet explorer, type http://the default gateway you copied in the address bar of the internet explorer

Windows Vista
1. Click pearl button (start in xp)
2. Click on start search box (run in xp)
3. Type cmd in the box
4. Right click the black icon up at the top
5. Click on run as administrator
6. Click on continue
7. On the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
8. Look for the default gateway
9. Copy that and use that to access the configuration page using the internet explorer
10. Open internet explorer, type http://the default gateway you copied in the address bar of the internet explorer

How do i set it up manually?

Connect an Ethernet cable to one of the Lan ports,
and to the network-card in a computer (running Windows XP or Vista or 7).

Via Internet Explorer, access the web-interface "inside" the router,
and run the "Network Setup Wizard", and run the "Wireless Setup Wizard".

That's all -- there is nothing dependent on "Windows 7".

I have a new zyxel router connected to my computer by ethernet cable. I have windows xp. Everytime i start up I have to disable the wireless connection switch off the computer then restart it and enable...

Why do you require a wireless connection on the computer, when it is already connected to the router through ethernet cable? Disable the wireless connection permanently & try.

Trying to connect between cable pc xp edition and new dell vista laptop

the SSID is only the name which your connection is called.
If you have security enabled, you will need to type in the passkey when asked.

First go to internet explorer open it and go to tools>connections tab, then tick 'never dial a connection' and close I. Explorer.

go to control panel>network connections>right click on your wireless connection icon, then go to the TCP/IP line, highlight it, click properties, then select 'Obtain IP address automatically.

Select Ok, then close window, go to internet explorer, then open it up and you may need to click refresh a few times ,but should connect

Cannot connect to the internet

open internet explorer, go to tools, internet options, then the connections tab and make sure ' never dial a connection' is ticked, assuming you had a dial up connection before using the router on this pc or if you briefly used it.

Wireless network security

alright... it does depend on the model of belkin itself but here goes... assuming you have windows since most people with mac are QUITE familiar with PCs Open an Internet Explorer window on your computer and type in in the address bar. This will take you to the Belkin router's web based configuration page. You will get a login page. Leave the password blank. Click Submit .On the left side of the page, click Channel and SSID below Wireless . . set it to have a wireless password... (again the exacts depend on your model) by doing this a computer must have that password you made to access the connection.. now depending on you computers operating system(ie: windows 95,98,200,ME,NT,XP vista or a mac) will depend on how you put this "password" into your computer... windows- START-CONTROL PANEL-(network and internet options)NETWORK CONNECTIONS-VIEW AVAILABLE WIRELESS NETWORKS and when you try to reconnect to your internet connection you will be prompted for the password... IF however your wireless adapters have their own wireless clients then you will have to contact their tech support instead of that last paragraph heres the number to belkin tech support in case your router will not allow you into the interface 1 800 2BELKIN x2263
