Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camara doesn't take pictures

When I turn the camara on in picture taking mode the camera lense opens fully, not focusing as it usually does. After about 5-10 seconds the message "please turn camera off and then on again" appears. I have done this several times, even have changed the batteries. The same thing occurs. Any advice appreciated. Same prob! When I turn the camera on it does not focus, the shutter does not open and it keeps telling me to turn my camera off and then on again. It will display pics that are on the camera but that's it. The zoom in and out button also is sticking.

I have the same problem with a Panasonic Lumix TZ50, less than 6 months old and have just sent it in under warranty. I will report findings and if it is handled to my satisfaction. How commen is with panasonic cameras?

My Lumix DMC-LZ2 has worked well for 2 years, but now won't take pictures. The lens zooms in and out several times and then shows the "please turn camera off and then turn it on" message. There's a mechanical sound like gears grinding. It wasn't dropped, but has been touchy in cold weather.

Camera suddenly would no longer focus. I suspect internally the infrared diode has burned out. Thus there is no reflected signal and the infrared receiver sees no signal. You can try putting a TV infrared remote to fool the camera and see if this causes your camera to focus at all. Of course, the camera is useless now and the diode must be replaced. I will contact Panasonic to see if they are willing to replace the diode. If you are industrious, you might attempt repair yourself if camera is out of warranty. Was a nice camera while it lasted. Perhaps a CD drive diode may be used-I'll let you know.

When a please turn on and off again appears there is normally a fault with or in the lens. I dont like to suggest that the camera must be opened by anyone that is not qualified to do the repairs because these cameras have components in that could be damaged and will only make the problem worse.

Shutter button does not respond to push. If D-90 camera is turned on, what is the most likely error I am making? Allan Fork afork1@aol.com

There are several possibilities.

Do you have a memory card installed? By default the camera locks the shutter release if no memory card is installed. Install a memory card if you have one, or change Custom Setting F6 to "Enable release" and see if you can take a picture.

What release mode are you in? If the camera is set to one of the remote release modes, it's waiting for an infrared signal from the ML-L3 remote release. Turn the camera off and on again, then try to take a picture.

What focus mode are you in? In AF-S, the shutter will not release until focus is acquired. Try turning off the autofocus (there's a switch just below the lens release button) and see if you can take a (probably blurry, but who cares?) picture.

Does the battery have sufficient juice? Press the menu button, navigate to the Setup Menu, then select Battery Info. If it's below 10%, I'd charge the battery. Of course, if the menu doesn't come up on the screen, that would tell me that the battery probably needs to be charged.

Is there a lens attached? What type? Certain older lenses and others lack the electronics to fully support newer digital cameras. With such lenses, you have to switch to Manual mode. Turn the mode dial to M and see if you can take a (probably an improperly exposed, but again, who cares?) picture.

Are you getting any error messages? If so, or if none of the above apply, then the camera may need service.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel 300D will not take pictures

Have you tried to take picture by switching off the autofocus to manual focus in a prperly lit environment?
If it takes a picture, then it has something to do with your auto focus system of your camera. In such a case: try taking out the battery, the memory card etc and switch off the camera and keep it for like that for about 5 minutes. And then insert only the fully charged battery and try again.
If it still gives you a problem and keep trying to focus You will need to take it to the nearest Canon Service centre.

I wanna take a picture but i dont know how to make the camara wait 10 sec before it takes the picture

Hi,

Self-timer shooting:

This function lets you take pictures using the self-timer.
Fix the camera securely on a tripod for self-timer shooting. This function is useful for taking
pictures when you want to be included in the photograph.

1 Select [ON], and press Z.
2 Press the shutter button fully to
take the picture.
• Pressing the shutter button halfway
locks the focus and exposure.
• The self-timer lamp lights for
approximately 10 seconds, then starts
blinking. After blinking for approximately
2 seconds, the picture is taken.
• To stop shooting while in n mode,
press the shutter button fully again.
• To cancel the self-timer, press Z.
• The self-timer mode is automatically canceled after one shot.

Note:
• If sequential shooting is attempted in self-timer mode, the camera shoots 5
frames at most regardless of the setting.

Hope my info fixes your problem,
Thanx for using fixya,
cheers.

How do you go from zoom to macro?

From my experience, many zoom lenses that have a macro feature simply kicks into macro mode when the lens is in fully zoomed position. Remember, macro is used to take pictures of something (usually like a flower, insect, etc.) and to magnify it several or many times larger than it really it is. And as a result the subject is huge and sharply focused with a very blurry background. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is usually a focusing limit for the lens in terms of how close one can focus a subject in MACRO zoom mode. In other words, you (the lens) may have to be at least a foot or more away from the subject in order to automatically focus sharply. On this note, if you have manual focusing capability, you should be able to take pictures in macro zoom mode from even shorter distance from the subject, resulting in more larger than life pictures!

Good luck!

Try switching the macro off, if it is on. The macro is for close-up shots. When my mom uses her camera with the macro on, it gets really out-of-focus. I look like a flower.

No pictures recorded/black screen

it seems that shutter blades are stucked and are not working. when you say shutter is fully open i think you are talking about the lense cover, not the internal shutter assembly. the red light is the indication of OUT OF FOCUS SUBJECT OR FLASH NOT READY. if the shutter blades aare not open the camera would not be able to do the focusing and will flash the red light thus you would not get any image. contact the repairer.
