Question about VIA ASUS A7V8X-MX KM400 Chipset Ultra ATA133 MATX Form Factor1xAGP (8X) / 3xPCI / 3xDDR with VGA, LA... (2224982850) Motherboard
My HP pavilion a545c had a on/off switch which broke. The spring switch was bad. I had a computer hardware guy replace it but I think he may have put the female pin terminals in the wrong places. Now it doesnt work. How do I Know which wires go to which pins?
Looking at the front of PC remove the left side panel. Now looking in at the board. There are two rows of pins in the lowest right hand corner of the board. Your PWRSW is your power switch. Its a two pin connector. The ground wire will be black or white. The ground faces to the right & connects at pin 4 counting from right to left. Power switch takes up pin 4&5.
All done. If tech switched the wires by mistake than flip the connector 180*.

Tips for a great answer:
it could be a faulty switch or the bad lead connections
test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE SATA
MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty if its a flat ribbon 40pin ide
this will be the first to fail
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure dust free connections
a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have a finishing point so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
make sure the CPU has a secure dust free seating with thermal paste
make sure your ram modules are securely seated with no dust in the sockets also the Cmos battery has charge with no dust in the socket
on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in
hope this helps
