Sony KV-32S26 32

KV-32s26 Out of Focus, Green, flickers off and on

posted by Nativeson on Jan 01, 2008

This sony has done me right for the last 10 years but now its having some issues.

Warm up time is long. Flickers on and off for a few minutes. Greenish tint when black. Last its out of focus.

I went to a repairman and his solution is to toss it. He new the exact model of the tv after I told him only two problems. He said, the blackout of the screen and flicker is some sony put in place so if the tv was not showing a quality picture it would just be black. This was to prevent someone viewing a sony and seeing poor quality and then not wanting to buy one. True or False.

Any way I would like to know if there are any solutions to fixing these problems for a intermediate electronics tech. I am going to upgrade but I could put this tv in my garage for my football games or something.

Thanks for the help

After removing the rear cover, I did find the Green and Focus pots for the CRT. I was able to eliminate the out of focus portion and this helped with the Green screen issue. Granted there is a tiny hint of green but nothing like before.
Also, once I tweaked the pots to the best picture, this cut down up on the warm up time. I believe the T.V. repair guy was right about one thing if the picture is not of a decent quality the picture just blacks out.
I am glad I took the time to try and get a few more years out of this T.V.
Thanks for the inputs...
I have the same problem

I regret to tell you that he is probably right. The problem is the trinitron picture tube. Sony advertised it with such high esteem for years and wouldn't doubt that they would do that. The phospher is burned out in the tube and the guns (red, green and blue) are weak and the focus electrobes in the tube are also weak although Sony made it a lot different that any other tube requiring extra circuitry. There is no fix for this. If you could bypass the blacking out you would still have the bad out of focus picture problem
