Re: camera

Try resetting camera and then formatting internal memory. Just make sure when you are formatting that you take your memory card out or transfer you pictures first. Then you should just have to enter info again. When you power back on it should stay. If it doesn't then call 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 2 and they will tell you where to send it.

I have the FinePix z70. (I love it.) The manual tells how to set the date and time the first time you turn on the camera, but my kids failed to do that when they first used it. How can I change the date...

Press MENU/OK to display the menu. Highlight the left tab. Select Setup (wrench icon). Use up/down to select "Date/Time".

It's all in the "Setup Menu" section of the manual (page 83 in my copy).

Pictures taken vertical don't show up vertical in play mode they

From what I remember of the S550, it has an "auto rotate" (or words to that effect) setting in the setup menu. Turn this mode to on or active, and your vertical shots should show up properly oriented on the LCD, without having to rotate the camera each time. Perhaps another expert could correct me if I've made an error on this one.

Fe-340 wont turn on

If the lens is stuck out, that either means impact or it got squished and messed up the lens mechanism. You can have that repaired.

Kid tough camera shuts down after using the flash

This may seem simplistic, but have you tried replacing the batteries first? It really quickly drains batteries and what you are describing sounds consistent with low batteries.

Batteries problem....

Try rechargable NiMH batteries. They are specifically designed for today's technology, and last much, much longer than traditional batteries. It doesn't matter about the brand -- Energizer, Rayovac, Duracell, generic -- I've found that they all tend to last about the same amount of time in my digital camera. But I only use rechargable ones anymore.

try this:

1.turn on yer unit the menu button(if it gives you the "turn power off and on again message just switch to play mode or preview mode and access the menu from there.) setup(the option with the toolbox icon) setup 1 (not camera 1 ayt?) initialize and select OK for every prompt.

you\'ll know if you\'ve sucessfully initialized the camera if it will ask you to set the date and time.

if this does not work.... i guess it would be better to have th unit checked by an authorized serivicer.

Casio Exilim Z57 Date and Language set up

OK, here's the fix. This camera has internal flash memory that is used to store settings and can be used for limited picture storage. Its use for saving setting is essential, however. If this gets corrupted then the camera won't save settings. Whoever said to format the internal memory had the right idea.

After much experimentation here's how. Remove your SD memory from the camera and turn it on. This will force it to run on the internal memory only. Run through the time/date/location setup again. It will complain about the memory card. Ignore this and press menu. Under Setup, select format. Choose format memory card and do it. This will format the internal memory. Once it is done, turn the camera off and back on. You'll notice that the problem is gone and it has remembered your last setup.
BTW, my camera is a EX-Z75. Not sure there is a Z57 model.

The ALL RESET function works two ways. When it is set to ON it restores the camera to the default settings once the camera is powered off. You can still put in custom settings, but they will be reset when you turn the camera off. When it is set to OFF the camera remembers the settings you have entered. For example, if you want the camera to always start up in the 3:2 aspect ratio you would turn ALL RESET to OFF and then select the 3:2 quality setting. The 3:2 setup will be there every time you start the camera up until you set ALL RESET to ON. When ALL RESET is set to OFF the camera will accumulate all of your setting changes, so it is recommended to reset the camera occasionally.
