Re: Smith Corona Deville 410

This is usually an indication that the lid is open (possibly a broken part on the lid that goes into a hole on the cover and presses a switch contact) or no ribbon or wrong ribbon/lift off combination

My Smith and Corona Typewriter XE 1950 is not responding. The green light on the Lock button is flashing. I have turned off and on and I am not able to type anything. Please help.

Lets get basic. Remove the print wheel look for bent or broken spokes. Try a different ribbon and be sure it is fully seated.

Could be the printhead is at the right margin. But, if you hit the return key and nothing happins, it could be a bad board, power supply or transport motor. When you turn the machine on, does the printhead move all the way to the left, spin the printwheel and move to a set position?
