Take the ground wire off, if the needle goes past full then, touch the ground wire to the other wire on sending unit and it should go to empty
no, all you should have to do is on each tank is remove both wires, this should show a full tank on the gauge, then just short the two leads together and it should go to empty on gauge, do this on both sides independently
yup one way the wires will be open circuit and the other will be a short circuit, this is essentially all a gas gauge is, a resistance and as the float in the tank(or in newer trucks)an electronic diode sensor and as the sensor moves with tank level it changes a voltage and registers it on the dash
that will do it,also if you have an ohm-meter(multi-meter) connect it to the gauge terminals on the gas tank and move the in tank float and this will change the resistance on the meter, also another way to check gauge
good luck if you want more info go to your library and look up a "Chilton's Auto Manual" they have pics and detailed info on everything from bumper to bumper and thanks for using this site dan

Usually answered in minutes!
you mean make a lead wire and touch ground wire on one FSU to ground on other?
Also any idea which one is the ground wire?
Also any idea which one is the ground wire?
Ok the plug only has two wires correct if so you want me to touch the two wires together? And do the same to other tank?
I am not at truck now so I can not see setup.
And that will tell you which FSU is bad?
Thanks allot ill try what you suggested tomorrow.I probably want to check the fuel pump as well it is all on the FSU. Heard also one of FSU controls the others operation and that it will be about 1000 bucks to replace that one which sounds WONDERFUL..(sarcastic <<<)
