Re: mp3

Hey, I have the same MP3 and I have Windows 98. I didn't try to install the CD that came with it. All you have to do is plug it into your USB port in the back.
Hope it works,

The software is only for Windows 98 otherwise the player is a plug and play device (Windows 2000, XP & Vista). Click here if your operating system is Windows 98.

Software and drivers are only available for Windows XP, but may also work with 2000.

Check to see if the Philips Device Manager recognises the drive.

Note: the player does not show as a removable drive.

Also make sure you have Windows Media Player 10, and use this to try and transfer files with the Sync function.

Is it possible to download music to the Philips GOGEAR MP3 4gb player WITHOUT windows xp?

You would have to go on the site and download the software for Windows 2000 ( I saw they have a version for Philips Manager for other versions of Windows)

The user's manual should be able to tell you which operating systems it's compatable with. It should also be printed on the back of the box it came in. Most things are windows 98/ME/XP
