Keep getting a setup error on the install disc for th ENLWI-NX2 adapter.

If the PCI wireless adapter card is accessible by opening the computer case, then

First, turn off the computer, remove the wireless adapter from the PCI bus.

Second, use a non-abrasive, soft, pink pencil eraser to clean the electrical contacts on the wireless adapter card. There may be some slight corrosion on the contacts. Then remove the pencil eraser debris by wiping the contacts with a plain, non-treated, unscented facial tissue or soft lintless cloth. Do Not wipe it with your fingers because the oils in your skin can cause further rapid corrosion.

Third, carefully and fully replace the adapter card, being careful to properly seat it in the PCI bus.

Fourth, turn on your computer and check Control Panel. Add/Remove Programs for anything associated with your driver card, that may have been installed. You will want to uninstall these before trying to install the driver again. Also check Control Panel, Add/Remove Hardware or Control Panel, System, Device Manager for any entries associated with the adapter card. These will also need to be removed/uninstalled.

Fifth, restart your computer. When the "Found New Hardware" prompt appears, Cancel it without allowing it to try looking for and installing drivers for your adapter card. You will be installing the drivers from the CD in the next step. Allowing Windows to attempt installing drivers at this point may result in *.dll and other support files for the drivers being installed which are incompatible with the adapter card driver and support files on the CD.

Sixth, insert your CD and install the adapter card drivers from the CD.

Seventh, restart your computer if instructed to do so by the adapter card driver installation program.

Eighth, restart your computer, which will force a flush of all memory buffers, disk buffers, and complete the installation as the computer is shutting down. This will also allow the operating system to add the necessary entries to the operating system registry during the boot-up phase of the restart.

If your operating system is Windows 7, then you will need to download the appropriate driver from:

An updated driver for Windows 7 was posted on May 23, 2011. an updated Utility file is also available for download at the same web page.

If your operating system is Windows XP or Windows Vista the above driver for Windows 7 may still work. If it does not work, then perhaps the driver on the CD can be recovered by cleaning the disk.

To clean the disk, first try using water only. If that does not work or the disk has fingerprints or grease/oil on it, then use water and a single drop of clear dish detergent such as Dawn. When drying the disk, use a soft lintless cloth and be sure to wipe in radially from the center toward the edges. Do Not wipe in a circular direction around the disk, because this could create more scratches in a direction that would maximize potential data loss.

If the CD is scratched this could also account for an error when installing. CD polishers are available at most department stores ranging in price from $15 to $125. A CD polisher kit will usually remove scratches, allowing an uncorrupted read of whatever is on the disk.

If your operating system is something other than Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, then there appears to be no driver available from the manufacturer, Encore. In that case, a wireless adapter that has a driver compatible with your operating system will need to be procured.

Having trouble uninstalling netgear wpn511

Need your version of MS Windows (or are you using Linux or Apple OS?), anyway, assuming
MSWin XP or WinVista or Win7,

start > control panel > add or remove programs > (L-click) Netgear software > (select) "Uninstall"

but if these vanilla instructions have been tried & aren't working, you may need to do a "system
resore" to a recent system configuration that worked well, then uninstall there, then re-install
all the stuff you're missing by doing a system restore...... if you've installed alota stuff recently
(like me) this could be very painful, and you won't know how far back to go until an uninstall works.

From the Netgear WPN511 RangeMax reference manual
avail from:

Removing the WPN511 Software

If necessary, you can remove the wireless adapter software in these two ways:
• Navigate the Windows Start menu to the WPN511 Wireless PC Card program group, select the
uninstall option, and follow the screen prompts.
• Navigate the Windows Start menu to the Control Panel Add or Remove Program item, select
the WPN511 Wireless PC Card option, and follow the screen prompts.

If your system is acting unreliable and/underperforming in other ways, suspect a virus/worm/trojan
and clean out your system with Avast!/Norton/AVG/Kaspersky/McAfee, etc. then try the
uninstall again.

Cannot Install Ativa Drivers

Hi Mark,

apparently you are not the only one having problems installing that device. See here.

So my suggestion would be to download the driver from here.
(90Mb??? - can that thing make coffee too?. Oh I see...they included Internet Explorer 6 in that package...Jeez..).

I just assume that you're running Win XP, but the procedure for Vista is similar.

Unzip the file.

Important: Do NOT use their setup.exe!

Plug in the USB adapter and let Windows try to install it. When it can't find the driver, point to the directory, where you unzipped the files. The file you're looking for is called "ODWGU.inf".
If Windows installs some driver which might not work, go into the Device Manager and update the driver from there.

If you have problems uninstalling their software, try "Revo Uninstaller". This software has a "Hunter Mode", that will help to uninstall even the most obnoxious software. I use it all the time, because it also removes all the **** that Windows uninstallers leave behind.

Ideally you have a clean machine to start from, so you might want to begin with removing their software first.

Please let me know if this worked for you.

The Realtek EAPPkt Protocol Service failed to start

Try this..1.Try to uninstall the USB adapter and re install it again. To do this go to Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel and find the usb adapter your install in this case its Alfa Wireless USB Adapter and uninstall it and restart your computer after uninstallation. 2. Remove the USB adapter while restarting and insert it again until windows already loaded and all windows startup program have all been started.
3. System will look for the system driver of USB adapter and it will prompt you for the driver location in this window do not choose the recomended instead click browse and locate the driver cd and look for driver folder and select the applicable driver for your operating system such as WinXP if your using XP.
4. If there is no driver folder in cd, go to my computer, explore cd and run setup or install this will install the pending driver installation.

Device will not start code 10 message

Code 10 means DRIVERS COULD NOT BE INSTALLED. Try installing the drivers manually.

Do this if pc is XP.
1.Keep the wireless adapter connected to the pc
2:Go to control panel, add/remove programs. Remove the wireless adapter software
3:Restart the computer, when the found new hardware wizard shows up click on it, click NO NOT THIS TIME, then select install from a list of specific location. On the next page Click on DON'T SEARCH, I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVERS TO INSTALL.

5.Click BROWSE to set the location of your drivers
6.Open the driver folder, then the pc should copy the files.

Good Luck

Abit wlp-01 suddenly won't find wireless network

With other adapters, I have needed to run a registry cleaner WinASO or RegistryFirstAid to clean out the unused entries so they could be reinstalled properly. Similar to removing some famous brands of Anitvirus that do not completely remove themselves.

Failed to install

Belkin drivers are a bit of a pain, uninstall the drivers again and remove the usb adapter, and follow exactly as per instructions, normally driver first, but ignore the pop up about the driver not being a signed windows if it does, just click install anyway. toward the end of the installation you should be prompted to connect the usb adapter, the hardware should be found and then the installation should complete. If driver installed ok but the adapter cant find the the driver plug it into a different usb port and again the found hardware should pop up then install driver popup should show and you should select install automatically.
