Nikon Coolpix 4500 Cannot access Menus & Flashing Red Clock?

I have a Nikon Coolpix 4500 and it was working fine until a few days ago when i turned it on I noticed a red square with what looks like a clock face flashing. I thought that I needed to reset the internal clock but when I tried to go into the menus all I can get to in the menus was the Picture Quality setting and nothing else no matter how many times I pressed the menu button... How can I get it back to normal operation... BTW I can still take pictures but only at one setting...
