forgot my unlock password

I want to change my sim card and my nokia 7610 wants a lock code to do this. The code I used before doesn't work. Have problems changing the lock code. Everytime I enter the right lock code it wants me to change it, but when I change and verify the new code, it says "Code Error"? How can I change the lock code to one that works?
