I have a 12 inch ORION HCCA dvc, 4ohm sub. My

I have a 12 inch ORION HCCA dvc, 4ohm sub. My question is this....IF I purchase a recone kit....BUT a dvc 2ohm recone kit. Can I SWAP out the 12.4 cone for the 12.2 cone and have the sub act as a 2 ohm dvc??? I have a hifonics brutus 1606 mono amp which is stable to 1 ohm. So If by simply SWAPPING the cones, I gain 400 or so more watts from my amp. Correct?? Is it possible to simply change the 12.4 for the 12.2. Thanks

Halving the impedance will draw twice the current. You could technically get a 3 Db more power since the peak voltage will remain the same. BUT if the magnet structure is not intended to use that cone design, the magnet difference MAY not give you 2 ohms.

In fact, if the designed magnetic flux were smaller, you could wind up with a 1 ohm speaker.

trying to get that much power is really kind of silly as even 50 watts with efficient speakers will exceed safe levels of sound that will not cause damage to your ears.

As you push an amp up in power, usually distortion will increase as well.

For da orion 2500d, what would be the difference between 10'', 12'', & 15'' orion hcaa subs besides a matter of price and inches? I have two of the orion 2500d amps and am ready for the subs. I would...

I honestly would go with 2 12 inch dual 2 ohm subs and wire them one per amp. That will give you a 1 ohm load to each amp and will give the HCCA's 2500 rms per sub... It will be stupid loud... 10s hit tighter than 12's usually and 12's tighter than 15's but u will get more air movement out of a 15 than the 12's and 10s... but... 2 10's require say a 4 cubic foot box to perform well... 2 12's require a 5 cubic foot box to perform well and 2 15's require about 7 to 10 cubic foot to perform to their fullest... no matter what if you put a sub in a box that's too small it will not perform or sound like what you want it to... go 2 12's and like a 5.50 cubic foot box or a 6 cubic foot box and you will love it...

How many svc subs at 4ohm does it take to get this amp to 1ohm stable and can you reccomend a good sub combo for this amp whether it be dvc or svc

It depends if your sub is 4ohm svc, or 2ohm svc. 4ohm would take 4 subs wired in parallel, 2ohm would take 2 subs wired in parallel. But for a amp that big, subs that'll handle it are definitely gonna be dvc. I'd recommend 2 Orion 4ohm dvc hcca's. They come in either 15in or 12in. the 15s are louder if you have the space for them. As far as wiring goes, wire the voice coils on the subs in parallel to 2ohm per sub, then wire the 2 subs in parallel to 1ohm. Goodluck and congrats on the equipment, Orion is about as good as you can go for subs and amps. just be ready to lay down some dynamat cuz this system'll bloww your vehicle apart! good luck...

I have 2 jl-w6 subs n a orion hcca 250 amp how do i run wirering

Hello brianmitchel,

From what I am able to determine, the Orion HCCA250 is a bridgeable 2-channel amp that is stable to 1ohm when bridged and outputs 800 watts RMS into that load.

The JL W6's in both 10" and 12" versions are dual voice coil with 4ohm coils so they can be wired to present either an 8ohm load (series) or a 2ohm load (parallel). They can handle 600 watts RMS.

With this combination, the best configuration would be to wire the sub voice coils in parallel for a 2ohm load and then parallel both subs to the amp bridged terminals for a final impedance of 1ohm. The subs will each be getting 400 watts.

In any event, I would not recommend running subs in series. There is some evidence for distortion being caused by something termed "back EMF".

Hope this helps.

I need to know about my 12" dvc eclipse subwoofer but i dont know what modle it is

Hello brandin_1,

I'm assuming that you have the new 12" eclipse. Look at the sub cone. If it is blue in color, you have the Model SW4210 12" DVC SUBWOOFER, 4ohm, 250W RMS,750W MAX. If the cone is silver, it is the Model SW6210 12" DVC SUBWOOFER, 4ohm, 500W RMS, 1500W MAX.

If it is an older dvc Fujitsu Ten 12" eclipse, most likely it is the Model SW9122. If it is a REALLY old 12" eclipse, it is probably a model 88120.

Hope this helps.

Orion hcca 250

i can make this relatively simple.
2 stages:
Stage (1) wiring the Sub inside the box;
Unscrew the SUB from the Box, (& undo the wires)
Connect both +Positive terminals on the SUB to the +Positive terminal on the inside of your BOX.
Connect both -Negative terminals on the SUB to the -Negative terminal on the inside of your Box,
Then screw the SUB back into the Box.
u Have just wired yr sub in parallel. any Amplifier will see it as 1woofer with 1OHMs resistance.

Stage (2) bridging your amp
(please check Amplifier instructions on which terminals to use)
generally you use "LEFT -Negative" and
"Right +Positive"
and connect to the corresponding terminals on the Sub Box.
Hope that helps someone.

How to wire 2 dvc subs to a orion 2150sx ? dont know the wire colors or how to hook um to my amp.

what impedence are the voicecoils?
Dual 4 - Dual 2 - Dual 1 ??

Orion SX / GS / HCCA amp Wiring guide:

Orange = Right Positive
Black/ Orange = Right Negative
Yellow = Left Positive
Black/ Yellow = Left Negative
Blue = 1+1

Bridging of SX or HCCA Amps:
1. Use the Orange wire for Positive.
2 Use the Black/ Yellow wire for Negative
3. Push "in" the Mono Button
That amplifier is only 4ohm mono stable - so assuming the subs are dual 4 ohm voicecoils...

First wire both in Parallel Independently So each subwoofer is now a 2 ohm load. (combine + and + - and- on both subwoofers)

Now Take a positive on one voicecoil of sub #1 and attach to amplifier+(orange)

Take a - on that same subwoofer and attach it to a + on the OTHER subwoofer.

Finally, take a - from the second woofer to the amplifier -(black/yellow)

Now you have a 4 ohm load on your bridged channels.
