I can play CDs with good volume on my PC but with DVDs the volume is nearly inadible on Nero and non existent on Windows Media Player. I have Philips stereo speakers.

    Very frustrating.

I now have virtually no volume even though the volume indicators are at the top level.

I have the same problem, c-ds and my itunes have adequate volume, however whenever I play DVDs on my windows media player, i can barely hear anything! It's a huge incovenience because my computer is where I used to watch movies. It used to work but for some reason now it doesn't!

How do i turn the volume up

Did you turn up the both (at the PC Audio control panel and at the Monitor control panel) volumes up?
Try using MP3 player or any audio sound sources feeding the monitor audio input to see what happen also.

My mix max volume is all the way to its max but it still sounds very low

I had the same problem with standard over the head earphones, however, when I used it with earbuds, the volume increased tremendously and we now have no problems with the volume sounding too low. My daughter has a hard time with regular earbuds, so I purchased some "clip" style earbuds.

Volume at 100% and sound too low to watch dvd tried with several dvds and volume is too low

Just cross check the volume settings in volume controls. All the sliders should be at max level specially Volume Control and CD Player.

If it is fine then there is some thing wrong with the media you are trying to watch or can be problem with audio driver.

RE ACER ASPIRE 5735 No sound on DVD

You need to play DVDs through Acer Arcade. To do this you can turn off autoplay (use help function), or assign Acer Arcade to automatically play DVDs. If you still want to use Windows Media Player to play your DVDs you must uninstall Acer Arcade.

The sound on the device is too low!

Often it is to do with the kind of sound that is being outputted by the DVD player. If the sound for example is set to produce dolby 5.1 and you don't have a suitable decoder it will be very low.
Check the sound settings of both your DVD player and sound system.

Low volume

Loudness Equalization : on

Equalizer: Choose one (Jazz seems to be loudest setting but sounds of hallway effect so I use powerful for clarity.)

This has more than doubled the level of volume on my acer 5570.
