We were using a makita cordless power drill. Somehow the clutch got stuck and it won't spin or open where you put the drill bit in. The motor seems to be spinning, think the problem is just in the clutch, we were able to get the two plastic pieces to spin, but the drill bit won't release

The chuck on my new makita drill is stuck with a drill bit in it. It won't open back up.

This is caused by tightening the chuck using the drills power, if you clamp the bit in a vice and using a pair of multi grips on the chuck in an anti clockwise direction gently bounce the grips and after a few tries it will undo, don't use too much pressure or try to unwind it in one move or myou will damage the chuck sleeve

How to change bits

The drill uses a cordless chuck (part bits go into) you will need to hold the outside ring of the chuck and spin it to loosen the jaws on the bit. Then spin the chuck the opposite way to tighten

Keyless chuck drill just spins

Some times the selector on top get gummed up with dust, it just needs cleaning. You were right to put it into 1st gear to remove the chuck with a big allen key, you get more resistance in the gears.

I have just purchased a Makita 8391DWPETK 18V Cordless Combi Drill - how do i actually put a drill bit in? Do I need to take off the plastic ring?

The large black part of the chuck should turn left and right to extend (close) and retract (open) the three chuck teeth that hold the bit in place. Turn the chuck to open it far enough to get your bit fully in the chuck then turn it closed to hold the bit in. When the teeth make contact turn the chuck a bit further to get it tight enough that the bit won't slip. When you get used to it, sometimes it's easier to hold the chuck lightly and turn it by lightly squeezing the trigger to turn the chuck with the drill motor.

The screw point got stuck inside of the makita

Low quality steel drill bits get stuck in the Makita because the hammer impact squashes the metal, forming a ridge that gets snagged on the anvil's steel ball bearing. Use only impact drill bits.

I have a 18 volt makita cordless impact driver i can not get the driver bit out it seems to be stuck in the chuck very tight

Try holding the bit with pliers and running in reverse, maybe with a shot of oil. That might free it up. You can also try tapping it (firmly) on the side of the bit

My sds hammer drill gets stuck in really hard re-enforced concrete and carries on spinning as if it has a security clutch. trouble is itcome on much too often now. how can i adjust?

You listed an SDS (plus or max?) hammer drill (no model #) under Makita chain saws. I'm assuming you have a Makita drill. Most of them have torsion limiters that let the motor turn when the bit gets stuck so as to prevent major damage to the tool or user. If it has been going on for some time you may have worn out some of the internal parts. There are no adjustable parts to fix this, you have to replace the worn parts.

Makita 6337D cordless drill problem

It is possible that the batteries are no longer good. They may need to be changed. These batteries do reach a stage where they no longer hold charge.

On rare occasions I have seen the gear box jam or the motor bearings go defective.
