Re: jammed printer

The power light keeps blinking along with the exclamation point. I've tried unpluging and pressing the # and the 9 while plugging back in. That did nothing. There is no paper in the printer and I'm getting really frustrated. My 11 yr old needs the printer for her homework. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Jam on roller

I had many jams using a Kodak printer, but lately I've been fanning the paper, which they may have told me to do, but I didn't know how to do it. Here is a step by step way to do it. Take the stack of paper you plan on using in your printer & straighten it by taking it by each side & tapping it on a surface (like a desk top). Bend the stack of paper as if going to fold it in half. On one side, the stack is fanned out. Grab the paper on the long sides with both hands & slide it into the printer tray. Go ahead & print, I've had fewer jams since loading my paper this way. Give it a try, see if it works for you!!!

Canon mx410 paper jam error

For me on my Cannon MX410 with a "paper Jam" light displayed this WORKED!! The absolute BIZZARE thing was after I went and through the described procedure above and rebooted and tried to print the 1st page that came out had a "crushed" ****-roach on the 1st page! So I didn't have a paper jam,...but a
ROACH Jam. :) I told my wife, Humm pest service not workin I guess! It errored out again, but simply unpluggingUSB and power cord (not the steps described for the Print Spooler) it prints fine. SO saved me buying a new printer which was just 6 mos. OLD and FINE by me! So THX, Vikram Kumar Thumu!

Printer says to clear paper jam, can't see paper jam i clear it out.

Here is a post I found how someone else fixed their problem. Good Luck

I was getting the same fake paper jam and improper shutdown error messages on this POS printer. I blew it out with compressed air - but that was no help. To watch what was going on, I stuck a pen top in the open cover switch sensor (see top image at ). It didn't appear that the cog wheel was the problem - it made no clicking noise or anything - the print head just traversed from R to L, then errored.

After I removed the sliding cover on the right, and with the print heads out of the way, I noticed that the chrome hold-down clip (bottom image) was crooked, and this prevented the print heads from traveling all the way to the right, causing the fake paper jam. Straightening the clip fixed the problem. (I didn't have to remove the clip, just pushed it straight - it's not in very tight.)

Paper jam. Sheet printed but didn't pass through the rollers

  • Remove the paper tray completely by pulling it out towards you.
  • Now pull the jammed/stuck paper out gently.
  • If you cannot remove the paper by the above procedures, open the printers front cover to access the cartridges assembly.
  • Pull the cartridges assembly gently and slowly. This will come out together with the jammed paper.
  • If jam not cleared, open the back cover and pull the tab outwards to access the fuser unit.Remove the stuck papers here.

  • Hope this helps.Thanks!

I have a paper jam and need to open the back door of an HP 6200 Printer. Do I need a screw driver?

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
No, you didn't need any screw driver for clearing a paper jam. But yes, if it is more mess than just a simple paper jam, then it depends.
For Paper Jam issues, kindly go through this document.

Hp officejet 5610 keeps saying paper jam but there is no paper inside

Hi there, i understand that you're having problems with your officejet printer.
regarding with your concern, theres so many possible reason why is that your printer is keep on saying paper jam..
one of the possible reasons is that the paper is jammed inside your printer where you cannot see it. and the paper tray is too full or overload with papers.
now, here's what you can do about it. open this link and follow all the steps on how to resolve the pape jam issue
now after doing all of the steps and still it didn't work then do a semi full reset.
1st - the printer should be on 2nd- unplug the power cord from the back of the machine 3rd- press and hold the # key and the number 6 at the same time while the power cord is unplugged 4th - now, re-connect the power cord after 30secs while still holding those buttons (dont release those buttons up until you see a message on your printer screen saying something about reset) 5th - after realeasing those buttons, then the printer will be doing something inside or in other words, it is doing its own reset.
if the semi full reset didn't worked then to tell you honestly it is something wrong with the machine or it is a hardware failure and there's no fix for that and you will need to have an upgrade or buy a new one..
if you have any other questions.. dont hesitate to reply..
Good Luck!!!

After picking up several pieces of paper at once and jamming, the printer now says there's a jam in the exit area. The paper jam I removed from the input area didnt leave any bits behind so I dont see...

You didn't mention your printer make/model but typically this is one of two issues. Either there is a jam (and it can be the tiniest of pieces of paper) or the printer "brain" needs to be reset. This can usually be done by holding down a sequence of buttons on the printer while turning it on. However, all makes/models are different so you best bet is to check the printer manual for how to do this.
