I can't transfer images from my canon 40d to my computer. I think the place where the plug the cable into the camera has been damaged, it feels loose.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

SOURCE: The AF on my Canon 40D seems to be malfunctioning.

Remove the lens and look at the metal contacts on both the lens and the camera. If these are dirty or corroded it could be the problem.

Here are some instructions on cleaning the contacts:
http://www.ehow.com/how_5089134_clean-camera-lens-contacts.html

Your local camera store can also do this for you as you need to be careful not to damage the sensor or mirror in the camera.

If this still does not help it can be a problem with the lens or the camera and you need to send it to the manufacturer or an authorized repair center.

Hope this helps,
-Tor

Image transfer

Try restarting your computer or try it on a different computer, "Busy" usually means something is preventing your computer from reading the camera. If that does not help, try calling Radio shack or Staples.

EOS utility not tranfering all images on card

You are better off to simply remove the card and either use your built in card reader or obtain a external USB card reader and transfer your images that way. All you have to do is open 2 "My Computer" windows. Simply drag your photos from your card to your C: drive.

open device manager, connect camera, it will be seen briefly with yellow triangle and exclamation mark. open it up and uninstall.
Disconnect camera and close windows down. Restart windows, connect camera and switch on, windows will then find it and install driver. Took me hours to figure this one out

Canon EOS 40D won't export my pictures onto my computer

Have you tried the "Adobe Camera Raw"- plug in for Adobe Photoshop, it should handle CR2-files whithout previous conversion. It is sometimes best to load the images from within a program like iView or just drag the images into a desktop folder. I think iPhoto is somehow the default program (possible to override, though).
