Question about Creative Labs Zen V MP3 Player
I took the Zen with me on a trip to Lake Tahoe and San Francisco and on the drive there it died. I forgot to bring the USB cable with me on the trip so I wasn't able to charge it until a week later (today when I got back home). I've connected it to the computer and nothing happened.
At random times it'll turn on but it'll shut back down immediately. Other times it'll flash but the computer says that the device is not recognized. I've tried reinstalling the program, pressing the reset button, connecting it to diffeerent USB ports. Nothing works.
Hey; I just had the same problem with my player; I uninstalled Windows media player 11 (brought it back to ten). Then I formatted my player, (You do this by unplugging it from the computer, then you turn off the player, and then you press the play button while also powering your player on, once you see the creative labs logo release the play button, a screen will appear, select format, then yes (it will delete all of your information on the player) then once you are done formatting select reboot. Once it's done rebooting connect it to your computer! It fixed the problem for me!

I had the same problem. Reinstalling Windows Media Player didn't help; nor did reinstalling the Creative drivers.
But this worked... in Device Manager I uninstalled everything under Universal Serial Bus controller, rebotted and let Windows reinstall the USB drivers. Had to reinstall my mouse software too, but the Zen is now back to normal.
Hope this helps someone.

I think i good idea, would be if you have a x box, connect your zen to the usb and connect it into the front of the x box and give it ten seconds to settle and hey presto!

I left my Zen on the usb charger over night. In the morning it was DOA. I pressed the reset and everything is working fine.

I''ve had porblems on and off with my Zen
MicroPhoto since the day I bought it and spent hours trying to rectify
the problem and I've finally found the solution!!!
My player would not connect to my PC, both in XP or Vista, Media player seemed to make very little difference and I'm pretty certain the problems arose when I uinstalled the Creative software.
I had a 'code 10' connection problem in my device manager, from trying it on several computers I realised it wasent the operating system, the player had malfunctioned.
Here is the solution.. (option 3 worked for me)
1)I would like you to refer to the link below for the recovery tool
Troubleshooting MP3 Player Recovery Tool detection issues
2)I will need you to enter to the MP3 player recovery mode to do some
cleanup and reboot for 2 cycles. The cleanup option removes invalid
links and do simple housekeeping. The reboot option helps you to exit
from recovery mode safely and below is the link on how to do it.
Recovery Mode and Updating Firmware on a Creative MP3 Player
3)After doing the Clean-up and Reboot, I would advise you to update the
firmware using the MP3 Recovery Tool. Please kindly refer to the link
below. (if applicable)
